Holy shit. I read a bunch of “surprise it’s a double album” posts on Reddit and thought, “makes sense. This thing is an hour long”. But, I’m learning here that the ‘double’ portion of ‘double album’ is another hour? I don’t know if I can do it.
I’m not gonna make any definitive statements...
I went straight Extended Mix as well. The Silver Cord song ends just as I’m really starting to get really into it, so I’ll be excited for the longer version of that.
Same here. Listening now. Great sounding, quiet pressing. The drums really hit.
Converge has really grown on me. I still don’t like Supercell much. Witchcraft has went down a few pegs, as well. I feel like that odd-time drum beat would be used to better effect if used more sparingly. The song...
Now I’m trying to remember what version I got. I looked through old emails but none of them tell me which version. Oh well. I don’t think it was Flamethrower and, if it was, I’m fine waiting a few more weeks.
Gonna need a few listens on this one. Lot of time signature fuckery. Some works some doesn’t. There are at least 4 certified solid amber bangers on here. Can’t get into Supercell, though.
Gonna listen again, then sit it down for a few days and come back.
Ice, Death, etc didn’t grow on me for...
Pressed in Italy. It is really easy to tell the difference between this and the German pressing since it’s a big white sticker on the back of the jacket.
It’s just a really bad pressing. So much surface noise & crackle throughout both sides, and a constant low rumble between songs, as well...
Hit the Wal*Mart sale over the weekend.
With the mix of in-store and online I snagged:
Simon & Garfunkel Greatest Hits
Alanis Morrisette - Jagged Little Pill
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Pearl Jam - Rearview Mirror 2
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Stranger Things 4
Van Halen - 1984
Taylor...
I'll throw some quick thoughts out there. It's a tough movie to form my opinion on, because there is the undercurrent of real death just below the surface of most scenes, and out in the open on others. Had they just showed one picture of Chadwick Boseman I would have been verklempt, so it's hard...
Well. Changes is pretty great, huh?
So far the stand-out section is No Body into Gondii. Two songs that have some of the least Gizz-sounding pieces, but are still very much Gizzy. Kind of wild how they keep adding elements to their repertoire and making them feel right at home with the rest of...
After one listen-through of Ice, Death…. I can say it’s firmly slotted in the “fine” category. Good, but not blowing my doors off. Enjoy the atmosphere of it all and the instrumental sections. Almost wish this was a solely instrumental album.
Definitely need time to let this one grow, though...
