Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

These guys desperately need a COO who knows how to run a business. It’s just embarrassing at this point.

Maybe I'm just naive, but I don't think VMP has some inside deal with Vinceron to offload product. That said, I can't imagine VMP is unaware of his practices and has probably just been turning a blind eye.

Just catching-up on this Vinceron Reddit nonsense. That mod is power-tripping so hard it makes me wonder if he's getting some kind of kickback from VMP to clean it all up. Here's some of the stuff that was deleted: snew

In case anyone else is still waiting on Sahara, according to Customer Service, apparently there was a "glitch" in the system that caused orders to be missed, including a bulk of Sahara orders. Shipping notification expected by next week.

Probably true, but what's curious to me, is that they seem to have at least tried to accurately replicate the back cover. So it doesn't really seem like the Dexter Gordon situation where they were probably supplied with image files of a CD reissue. They probably had an original to work with and...

...add me to the list of still waiting on July ROTM. Only ordered Tyner. No shipping notice, no Informed Delivery.

    Vinyl Me Please Classics

If next month is really Money Talks, that would be... underwhelming. "Holy Ghost" is no doubt one of the best tracks in the Stax catalog IMO, but this "album" was just a cash-grab by Fantasy, piecing together whatever unreleased Bar-Kays tracks they had... which wasn't much, as this "album" is...

Albert King was Craft Recordings as well and also has Made in E.U. on the back. Strange. I was certain these were all printed at Stoughton (Sister Rosetta confirmed).

In case anyone cares, here's some more info on the release date. Potentially released as early as May 1969. Text on page 3: The 27 albums are illustrated on pages 18 & 19 (four of which are VMP selections). Supposedly this was referred to as the Stax "sales blitz."...

To add to this list: C002 - John Lee Hooker - The colors of the spine are completely different than the typical Impulse spine. Maybe the original was like this (can't find a reference image), but I find that hard to believe. C008 - Max Roach - Has an "Inspected By..." stamp on the back cover.

I ripped the previously unreleased Fireballs album. We'll see if it gets blocked. PM me if you want the individual files. I may do some of the others.

I am not an expert either and could totally be wrong, but bootleggy/dodgy or not, they kicked off the resurgence to a larger audience as far as I remember. Not many people knew about this stuff before ~2006 - some African stuff was originally just being shared around on different blogs, e.g. Sea...

Just follow the chart here. Africa by Amanaz is probably the most well-known and popular. Shadoks reissued a bunch of these in the late 2000s, which kind of started the zamrock revival.
