Having the conversation of "this is a good protestor" and "this is a bad protestor" are used by the forces that be each night to justify rampant abuses by the police in countless cities now. It is designed to distract from what is happening. It is designed to confuse the question of, "what came first, police abuse of force or some broken windows?"

Some broken windows or even a torched building is a terrible reason to open up on a crowd of people that you know aren't the ones doing it. Thats not how our law enforcement is supposed to work in this country. But the moment there's a broken window so many people want to say that that makes it OK for what the pilice did. It doesn't. It shouldn't. Those people are wrong.

The fact that people are reacting more strongly to property destruction is exactly why its a viable tactic in a social justice movement.
Throwing a bottle or rock at a black females face just because she a police office not only makes somebody a bad protester, it makes them a terrible person and they should be arrested for committing a hate crime.

Here’s Sprinter by Torres by Murfocakes

I will arise and go now, and buy for 81p,
An album by Torres is there, of warped plastics made;
Nine hundred copies on Discogs site exist there, a Cheap copy waits for me,
And in warehouse we regret too many copies made.

And I shall have some cheap copies there, for sales came dropping slow,
Dropping though predicted Torres would sell more;
And never shall I swap for it for cheap copies I do know,
And certainly never pay full price in dollars, thirty four.
Lmao

Sorry forgot to specify - it would be permanent inventory resident Torres-Sprinter

Did a bit of a W.B. Yeats vibe for it.

This is like one of the arguments where people reply “all lives matter” to “Black Lives Matter” no one is saying it is okay to assault Police. That is well understood. The police are very well protected, they have more protections than your average person. The issue is that police officer should be held in account when they commit a terrible act. Currently that is NOT happening. This is why people are protesting.

Sure. But does that mean the police should fire on unarmed peaceful people who happen to be in the area? You yourself stated a single person did it.

There’s a lot of opinions being expressed here. How many of you have experienced the systemic racism that people are protesting against? I’ve seen it expressed best when I read that White America has had the microphone long enough, they’ve had the power to do something about this long enough. It’s time to hear voices of people who are actually having this happen _to them_, not talk, listen. Too many minorities feel that when they speak up about their experiences they get it whitesplained to them, which does not encourage others to speak up, let alone action. So as much as there’s a lot of white people with opinions (and some good, decent and valid opinions) I’m not sure more white opinion is what America needs.

Someone said earlier that if you’re not American then you’re essentially ignorant and shouldn’t express an opinion. I don’t think “American” is the benchmark here.

No both sides are being incredibly shitty . Hurling a bottle at a black womans face is inexcusable. Uniform or not. 23 percent of the PPD are female . Violence towards women is never okay cop or not.
Opening fire on a crowd with rubber bullets is equally horrific .Both sides need to calm the hell down before a lot of people get seriously hurt.

I don’t know if this needs to be said but I want to say it @Rahawk2 I like you and I respect your opinion though I do not agree with it. I apologize if it seems like we are all pouncing on you. I don’t think that is anyone’s intent. It is just lots of people have opinions on the subject. Hopefully no hard feeling are had.

If VMP does a drop tomorrow or at all this week... I’m dropping them. That’ll show they care more about using beautiful black voices to reach their profits and are okay with the systematic oppression they receive. Them being quiet about it, which a response by now is incredibly delayed, is already showing their true colors.

Mmmmmmm I’ll be very shocked if that happens because that would be absolutely devastating if VMP did a drop but stayed quiet on the issue! Couldn’t agree with you more on this!

get ready to file a PayPal claim... they messed up charges bad. Many people getting charged a resub when they still have months remaining. I got charged for two add ons when I only had one add on yet the one I did have got removed from my orders page.

As a black man, I don't need a brand, whether it be Nike, Amazon or even VMP to tell me, or anyone, how to feel about this. I don't see their statements as truly sincere, however, to not use their platform to speak out is damning. Like any company, unsurprisingly, VMP values the bottom line over their customers and over basic common decency.

I think that VMP’s statement on their website today is admirable and thought-provoking.

I live in Australia. I’m a recent VMP joiner. I rarely post here. I lurk and read and appreciate the thoughts of other music lovers from all over the world.

But this thread, this past few days, has been illuminating. People want the things that are important to them to signal that they listen. And care. And will respond with love and due attention. Like VMP have done.

Which makes the response of those in the highest offices of the US so completely perplexing. And disturbing. And worrisome. Here’s hoping that the one-upmanship, empty gestures, threats and divisive thinking is challenged in a more productive way than we’ve seen recently.

And that the US, a nation that many of us love, finds a way to work this out with care and attention for all.

I’m so proud of you VMP! I’m so happy they closed their store for the week and for their generous donation! I loved their overall message, especially the last paragraph!

I’m so happy I support VMP! I love them dearly and knew they would come through with such a great statement! ♥️

How did it ended with the De La Soul vs Tommy Boy conflict when VMP released those exclusive?
