  • I’ve never tried to like an artist more than Bridgers. At some point ya just gotta cut your losses.

Not every act is for everyone. I don't usually announce the beloved artists I don't connect with, but believe me, they are many 😂

Maybe I should visit the musical confessions thread...

That’s an option! In addition, I encourage everyone to post whatever the heck they want on their status page. Everything from “Happy Birthday’s” to “I have a phobia of marbles” to “I just finished eating a bag of chips” is fair game with me!

Sometimes fear of getting RSR’d keeps me out of topical threads that I don’t often visit.

By all means, the intended takeaway was just that I definitely relate to not connecting with board favorites. ❤️
So with this PayPal’s tax reporting changes next year I’ll have to start thinking about that. If I sell an album for $50 that I bought for $40… do I pay taxes on $50 or $10? And do I have to itemize every item I sell?
(Yes, I know the tax rule isn’t changing, just PayPal’s cap on when they send a form)

This means that even if it is a hobby for you, it’s probably best if you claim you’re a business…. For tax reasons. This of course has the hidden benefit of making the administration look good by being able to gloat about all the small businesses that it created from its tenure…. Which is likely the sneaky reason for all this nonsense.

Meanwhile the wealthy hide and shelter their assets. Let’s go after the people making an extra $700 a year.

So I read an LA Times article where this proposal is being dropped and they are going to consider a $10,000 limit instead?
Asian Man Records gets real with their newest email. The vinyl backup appears to be way worse than just 6 months!

“ I re-ordered two albums on April 30th to get REPRESSED and was just told they wouldn't be done until AUGUST 2022. YIKES!”
I always think my music tastes are diverse until somebody here mentions an artist I haven’t heard of so I look them up on Spotify and realize that not only have I never heard them, but also have never even heard of any of the “related artist”
I’ve been having a having a hell of a time thinking of any funny movies released in the last 3 or 4 years.

We watched Palm Springs tonight, it was pretty good.

Exactly, TLK. Barb and Star is full on absurdity along the lines you mentioned and high camp. I get that's not everyone's deal, but it's good fun for what it's supposed to be.

I was visiting my parents in August and my mom and I were looking for something to watch one night and I suggested Barb and Star since we hadn’t seen it and we both like Kristen Wiig….but it was kind of painful to watch with someone who isn’t big on absurdist humor or whatever that was. It made it worse that my mom was like trying to pretend that she enjoyed it, haha.
TFW artists say they’re not going to release CD’s because climate change… then press 15 different vinyl variants.

The only hope for sustainability is a less toxic plastic that doesn’t sound like trash, lower weight records (weight has no impact on sound quality) a less energy intense manufacturing and less waste in the process.

There was a Dutch company investing in R&D into eco plastics and injection moulding but I’ve not heard anything much about them for a while.

@Joe Mac yeah there does need to be a change, but I say good on them for at least trying something. Getting rid of plastic outer sleeves completely is simply a start. But if no one else hops on board (they haven't), then there's not a lot of hope for large scale change.

Yeah it’s kinda nice to see shrink gone but small changes by a band are futile gestures without structural change in the industry. Much the same as the small acts of individuals will do nothing in general without government enforced structural action.
Blocked from a popular vinyl IG’ers account because I PM’d them about the hypocrisy involved with them promoting LGBTQ rights, BLM, and MeToo… while also blindly praising and promoting the Kanye album. Trying to make sense of it all, but I can’t.
If you give me the freedom to create a mock training scenario with no restrictions, I’m going to put my stamp on it. Got a call from a previous boss saying “we just had a student notice the license number on your scenario is 8008135 🤬” Me: 🤷‍♂️
Is it just me or does it seem like mainstream pop is going super emo? Listened to Olivia Rodrigo followed by Kid Laroi and started hating my ex-girlfriend from 26 years ago all over again. /s
Embarrassed to admit that I’m just now discovering how great Nick Lowe is.

I've always wanted to get more into Nick Lowe but then nothing he's done (IMO) has lived up to how fucking good of a song "Cruel to Be Kind" is.

He has so many great songs. Admittedly, they are scattered across his albums, but, "The Impossible Bird" is one of my favorite albums of the 90s. It's a more mellow/mature sound for him, but it suits him well.

Wait, so Lorde takes a trip to Antarctica and then releases a new single that starts by exclaiming that she hates the winter and can’t stand cold? 😵

For the record, not bashing… just confused. Lorde delivered with the single, IMO. If anything, people will rip her for wanting to be environmentally conscious because it’s near impossible for your actions to match your intentions and the whole idea is rife with contradictions. But hey, I won’t bash anybody for trying!

Thats why she went there. To increase the melting of the ice by flying.
IKEA Kallax trip is happening! Going for a 3x3 with a 4x1 on each side of it. Hopefully it ends up looking alright!

I think I'd have preferred that to my 4x4. Like @LeeVing said the 3x is better turntable height. I can't quite enjoy the view with the 4x4.

The 4x1 was a tad too tall on one side so I had to modify it to 3.5 height and just barely pulled it off. @Hemotep honestly, the 3x height is too tall for me too, I preferred it at the 2x height but that might just be because I’m average height and had already gotten used to the 2x

I get that. I'm 6'5", so with my 1x4 on top of a 2x4 it is about 46 inches, and that hits me right at my stomach...no bending or hunching over to flip a record.
I know I turned a couple fellow emo fans onto this band, so just thought I’d send a note to them that their new songs kick ass and preorders for vinyl are live.
