I have heard an OG a few times, but it was probably VG at best and I have a fairly low tolerance for surface noise. I also was not able to directly compare it to my Alto. If you can find a clean OG at a reasonable price it is probably a good pickup. I bought the Alto new, but these prices now...

I have the record, which sounds fantastic. I assume Chad wasn’t able to find the metalwork, which is why he did a DSD needledrop. This is one of those “pry it out of my cold dead hands” pressings. I may check out the HDTT transfer. I have a few things from them which are really well done...

That Jamal record is quite good, but this one sounds like you’re sitting in the front row. https://www.discogs.com/release/5132790-Ahmad-Jamal-Ahmad-Jamals-Alhambra

    Wilco (The Thread)

I expect that if I ever check out a “local” Wilco show again it will be in Austin or Dallas. The curtailed second set and perfunctory “imagine we walked off stage” encore summed things up for the night.

Yes, also thou shall not check thy phone at anytime (especially if any well known sporting events are occurring at the same time as the concert). Again… learned the hard way (Wilco’s 2019 Houston gig in the midst of an Astros playoff run).

I highly recommend the new Cat Power Sings Dylan album. I have the clear vinyl edition cut by BG and it sounds great. (Plus the album/music is great, as well.) It has been in heavy rotation here since the holidays.

The Otis sounds great. No issues with the vinyl, as well. Dock of the Bay is the best Ive heard and I have most of the reissues from the last 10-20 years.

    The National

Thanks @TenderLovingKiller® I took a $16 flyer on this and it worked out. All 4 sides playback for me without any skipping (a little surface noise in places, but not bad...).

Noice…. Happy Birthday! Love the Laphroaig. I’ll have a pour of the Quarter Cask for you. How is the sherry oak finish?

Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

If anyone got an extra Albert King from the TBT please pm me. I was in a workshop in the office yesterday and these were long gone by the time I hit the website.

I still think the MMW Tonic album on Blue Note would make an incredible Tone Poet. I have no idea if the recording is analog or digital but it sounds great and the playing is fantastic. Would love to hear what Kevin Gray could do with it on vinyl.

The 2023 Record Store Day Help Thread For Those Mourning Taylor Swift's Breakup

I thought I got them all (and some more) but during the course of the last 24 hours I’ve received emails saying that stores had oversold their allocations, so I’m back looking for the MMW and the Jazz Dispensary comp at reasonable prices.

Thanks to the member that helped point me toward several of these! Still looking for the Nuggets box. Does anyone have a line on that one?

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

If you want to play a fun game then go through this document and count how many GZ pressings you have in your collection that match the “NOK” description. I’m thinking we could set it up like an N&G bingo card, just we all lose in the end...

The Kleiber Beethoven 7th, in particular, is by consensus considered a reference recording of this work, and on most good to great systems sounds like you’re sitting 10th row center in the Wiener Musikverein (considered by many the best sounding orchestral concert hall in the world).
