The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

After a fair bit of research, I am using a dedicated mini Mac running Qobuz through Audirvana to my DAC, and am very happy with the results and interface.

MoFi UltraDeck / StudioDeck Owners and those interested

I'm running a MP-200 on a Studiodeck. I don't have experience with a lot of different cartridges, but I am pleased with the Naga. I was used to the brighter sound of my Signet, but I do get high end detail. I find the MP-200 detailed with a lovely midrange, and non fatiguing, I can easily...

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Leave it to the Chinese to do a cheaper knock off of one of their own products! Agreed that the turntable sure doesn't inspire confidence.

    Cats / Dogs and vinyl

I put adhesive vinyl with the sticky side up on top of the dustcover when I'm not using the turntable. I've done this elsewhere where I don't want them to be and usually after jumping on it once, they learn to avoid it. I think they recognize the adhesive vinyl now and know to stay away, cause...

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

If you're on a budget you could try the DIY route and get a generic ultrasonic cleaner with included parts to hold, spin, and dry the records for half the cost of a HG. That's what I did, and though it's bulkier and not as automated, it does a comparable job with cleaning. (btw, I use my...

I use a Discwasher to pre-clean noticeably dirty records as well. :)

Go Nuclear on Static and Dust

I'd be interested to find out. Once summer kicks in there's plenty of humidity here, but currently am having static issues.

After reading of all the positive experience, the B stock and return policy spurred me on to try it and I've been extremely happy with it. Even from the first day the return policy was moot for me. It is a top contender for under $1k. Plus the customer service from Keith is top shelf!

I like to start fresh with a new sleeve after an initial cleaning. Been happy using Taguchi anti-static inner sleeves, and I like they fit inside the original sleeves.

Yes, ultrasonic cleaning is more effective. If cost is a consideration you can spend half as much for a Vevor ultrasonic cleaner. It's not quite as automated or sleek, but does essentially the same job.

That's encouraging to hear. Though I haven't tried many different brands, I'm currently using Rocket 🚀 11 and am satisfied.

I have a Spin Clean, so I figured it can't hurt to use it for an after rinse. I usually do see a little stuff on the bottom after rinsing many records. Perhaps some occasional minute stuff that was loosened but still on the record?

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I'll be interested to hear if you notice much of a difference in cleaning between 132kHz and the usual 40kHz.

I considered doing that as well, but for about half the cost and since it has a trial period, I decided to try the MP-7. I was set to carefully evaluate, but even right out of the box the trial seems to be moot. I went with the B-stock which has new internals, and a tiny scratch on the back...
