Movies

There was a few I missed out on as they were leaving Prime - Saint Maud and Spontaneous.

I just got the score for Saint Maud the other day.

And I think Spontaneous is now on Paramount +, so I can still see that.

EDIT - looks like both moved to Paramount +
Oh crap, thanks for the heads up. Been meaning to catch Spontaneous. Looks like it's still on Hulu, so I'll try to catch it there before Viacom tightens the reins.

Was disappointed for a moment to see The Swerve no longer on Prime proper as well, but looks like it's now on both Tubi and Prime via IMDB with ads.

I watched Blood Simple last night for the first time in a couple years and now I want to go back through and watch every Coen Brothers movie again. Talk about coming out of the gate swinging.
You could do much worse. Raising Arizona is my all time favorite and they've never made a bad film. Their worst movie is probably The Ladykillers and that one is still completely watchable.

Yeah, Raising Arizona was my next one to watch but unfortunately it doesn't appear to be streaming for free anywhere 😒 I know I had it on DVD but no clue where it is. I may just break down and rent it because it's one I'm very interested in rewatching! Especially since I've been on a small Nicolas Cage kick recently after rewatching Mandy and Bringing Out the Dead 😄

It's so unapologetically of it's time too. Like if you were going to film a movie set in the 1980s today your goal would be for it to look like Raising Arizona.

In The Heights was so much fun. It’s like what I needed all year. And it makes me want more big movie musicals to happen. And I know more are coming, and for that I’m excited.

not perfect, some odd changes from stage to screen, but also a lot of great changes that made it even better.

I took a Film Studies minor in college because it sounded fun. Had en entire course one semester on the Coen Brothers. It was great!

I remember my film professor discussing how they have such a defined idea of what they want from any given shot that they essentially edit their films ‘in-camera’ and have very very little footage left on the cutting room floor. Helps them consistently keep under budget.
