You can see where I've downvoted it, because it sounded like more bullshit. Everyone can see it coming a mile away

Yeah. It looks like it was
I guess this means they're back to doing curated titles
Yeah, there are a few titles I would buy if they were selling the 33rpm version
I think these stupid prices and the $70 madness for a 2 LP Whitney album is their way of testing out a new price point. ‘What will these schmucks actually pay for a record?’
Tbh I think vmp just really wants to own QRP
Them being the ONLY place for classics, pressing at them more, having MDC,
I'm surprised if it doesn't end up having a name like VMP presses one day
They sure are good friends thoughI’d bet my retirement that Chad Kassem would never sell QRP to VMP.
QRP, Acoustic Sounds and Analogue Productions are all under the same umbrella. Chad Kassem’s umbrella.
I'm not sure why people think this is weird. Back when VMP used to do curated titles, weren't they more expensive than something you could find much cheaper elsewhere? I think the only time I bought a curated title was when they had a sale. If I remember right, Acoustic Sounds was doing some cross promotion on social media for VMP when either the Blue Note or Motown Anthology was being released. For AP, it's probably more about getting their products in front of more eyeballs.
We have our own club here. A member chooses an album, we guess, the winner gets the album free of charge, we discuss. It's fun.
Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 9 - March 2020 /// X-Ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents
Hiya! I am so excited and grateful to present Vol 9 of the N&G Forum AOTM. I hope my choice will be a welcome addition to what has come before and the awesomeness that will continue after mine. It's going to be a tough act to follow after @ChristoBee's selection but I think this record can...www.needlesandgrooves.com
And to @everyone else - it isn't Spam if the question about another club is asked! Leave me be.
They did! They would drop the price if people found it cheaper! I do remember that. That was when they actually fostered a community.Maybe a couple of bucks, but from what I remember I don't think they were available for that much cheaper elsewhere. Didn't they used to actually adjust prices occasionally when people would point out that the title could be found for less?
I would look for posts to confirm/deny my recollection, but whaddyaknow, looks like the forum got shut down!
They used to sell Mofi’s in the store and they marked them up $20-$40 per record. I bought the one step of Marvin Gaye- What’s going on for $165 While it was on sale from Music Direct for $125. Don’t look at me like that...it was all store credit.Maybe a couple of bucks, but from what I remember I don't think they were available for that much cheaper elsewhere. It’s just a bizarre business strategy now. I don’t understand it. They got rid of curated store records because nobody was buying them. Now they will just have even more expensive records sitting there alongside the Whitney Houston box and stacks of the Woodstock box set. They did! They would drop the price if people found it cheaper! They also said their store was a place for members to get these curated titles for less, as a perk to members. Most stuff was around $17. And they said they wouldn't ever have more than ... was it 12.... curated albums per month.
That lasted, oh, as long as everything else VMP has promised and then reneged on.
Either VMP is getting a massive cut of the sales price here or they're trying to foster a relationship in order to maybe do a color variant of an AP press soon. Similar to VMP Pinkerton. It’s just a bizarre business strategy now. I don’t understand it. They got rid of curated store records because nobody was buying them. Though if I could swap for AP pet sounds
Id do it
