Vinyl Storage Recommendation

got my first set of sleeves from VSS and gotta say, they are pretty nice. i'll have to dig up some albums that have the SC 5.0 ultimate outer because in my mind, those are nicer than what I got from VSS. But the VSS sleeves are much better than the Clearbags sleeves I got last time.

Which ones did you order, and how do they compare to the SC 2.5 outer?

remember when i (gold) chained my kallax to the wall? well. i have evolved.
i don’t have great pictures of the final product cause all the moving and i also need to put a final top coat on it (i poly til shit’s waterproof).

anyway. i bought a $30 kreg jig. and some wood. and borrowed someones circular saw.

i attached photos of the process a bit. and here’s a big photo where you can kinda see the final product (and yes. that is washi tape on the in between shelf edges. it’s not remotely permanent but it’s fun. for some reason i bc it super into washi tape and am using it all in v unconventional ways. not that cutesy-wutesy bs).

anyway. here’s my new roomate henry in front of the only unpacked part of my apartment (she doesn’t pay rent).

and yes. i bought my own circular saw after the fact.

Really nice job there, looks incredible. Love the castors too.

I got 2 packs of the 12.5 and 2 packs of the 12.75 inch sleeves. No flaps. They are 4 mil so thicker than the SC 2.5 but not as thick as the SC5.0.

They are nice! Maybe not quite as clear as the SCs but it’s been a minute since I’ve ordered those. Sleeve city does seem to have stock again though if you were looking for those. I’d say the VSS and SC are the two nicest ones I’ve used. The 12.75 dont fit larger gatefolds (like the Tone Poets) so I ended up ordering some packs of the 13 inch today from VSS

Things might be getting better at SC - I ordered 2.5 outers and audiophile inners a week ago and they arrived today. Still out of stock on a few things I was looking at but for in stock items you should be good to go.

Spending may be down (better supply ?) as well, all the shops I talk to say spending is down post rsd.

Finally had the time to finish up the Target shelves I bought (6 & 9 cube). I went a little overboard with a 5/8" sheet of plywood (cost about the same as the actual shelves haha) but it solidified them greatly. I feel substantially more safe now using them as a stop gap for a year or two until I have the time/space to go all out and do a custom job. I am working on a nice solid wood topper that I will be attaching to the top of the 9 cube soon as well.

I got a few of the 2x2 Target shelves. They are actually pretty nice! Especially for that sale price they had a little while ago

i have been using nothing but the target shelves for all this time... so far i stacked a 2X4 and a 2X2 and 2X3 to make a 4X4

Yeah, considering the price from that sale like you said i'm pleasantly surprised!

Received these ClearBags sleeves today and I've only used one so far, but they seem nice. Much more sturdy than other sleeves I've seen with flaps, like the ones that Record City Japan uses that split at the seams so easily. I'm not a big fan of the fold-and-seal approach to bagging my albums, but at this price, I could become one. Probably will motivate me to store the record outside the jacket for any I put in these sleeves. Sealing the bags adds a step, but keeping the record outside the jacket eliminates a couple, so the math works out!

Anyhow, if you're so inclined, this is a great deal from Amazon. Cost me $15 less ~$19 vs ~$35) than if I'd ordered these and had them shipped from ClearBags. Not sure how that works, but I'm not asking questions.
