Vinyl Me Please Anthology

This version absolutely rules. There is a great scene in the LST doc where they discuss the performance and recording of that song and how they all knew that it had to be on the album because it was so transcendent

That scene made me sad Garcia is dead and not there to give interviews about it. More so than any other scene in the series.

Same - I recall the first time I heard that one and it was absolutely stunning... totally caught me off guard and I just had to sit there with my mouth hanging open until it was over
We went to Atlantic City for my bachelor party. Had some drinks at the casino and got in line at the cab stand to take us to a "gentleman's club." A van pulled up so we all piled in, and the driver had a bunch of CD cases, one of which was Europe 72. Being the man of honor, I exercised my rights and had the driver queue up Morning Dew. The club was only like 5 minutes away but rest assured we sat in that van in the parking lot until it was over.

Someone on Reddit discovered an article with a future Philadelphia International Anthology mentioned:

TL/DR
"Beyond that, the music club Vinyl Me, Please will release this summer an 8 record-set called Anthology: The Story of Philadelphia International. Both the Snapper boxes and the Vinyl Me LPs are being released in conjunction with Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music."

If it's priced similarly to the Tribe set, I might actually spring for this. Love that Philly sound.

Yeah, like all their anthologies, depending on the albums, price and pressing location, this could be awesome.

Here's a stab in the dark at what the 8 could be:

MFSB - Love is the Message
O'Jays - Backstabber (or maybe Ships Ahoy?)
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - Wake Up Everybody
Billy Paul - Going East (or maybe 360 Degrees of...?)
Teddy Pendergrass - Life is a Song Worth Singing
The Three Degrees - International
Lou Rawls - All Things in Time
Patti Labelle - I'm in Love Again

I doubt it's all these as they'll likely swap in a couple deep cut albums, but a boy can dream.

Definitely in for this. But Im an Anthology loyalist so far and have bought all of them so that probably doesnt mean much.

Regardless, can't wait. sounds awesome

Never seen a seam split on the outer side of a jacket before!
It's unbelievable. I mean... What the fuck 😂

Seriously, mate. I opened the box and just had to laugh. It's like they are deliberately fucking with me now just for a bit of fun. It's a 500 quid set! How difficult can it be to not repeatedly send shagged stuff.

Hilarious stuff.

At this point the set is a disaster for us. It’s a shame that more people aren’t having issues with it. According to discogs this box is absolutely perfect to everyone besides me!

I know. I think it's patchy as you like QC wise but some of it is totally avoidable. American Beauty sounds so good it just makes me even more pissed about the whole thing as this should be the standard of the box universally (less bolloxed covers that is) but things like lack of care sleeving, lack of consideration packaging replacements etc... Its a massive shame

By the way. In the spirit of balance. This sounds incredible!
My rhino copy I purchased for $15 and received in perfect condition sounds pretty great too. 🙃

Seriously, though, I hope they end up getting ya taken care of. Lord knows they have some extra copies. I don’t understand how they haven’t figured out how to properly package and ship a record yet. I mean that IS there entire business model.

Yup. Totally avoidable. A bit of plastic on the cover or bulk in the box is all that was needed. I'll A/B with the Rhino at some point though. I would have done so for WMD and Live Dead to but... Well... You know.

That's not so much a seam split as a crack in the laminate caused by a forceful drop. Really, no packaging can prevent that.
But it is really easy to fix, I do it all the time. Take a decent artists maker and run it over the crack. Make sure it is the same color - black is really easy. Usually the ink is enough to fix it. If not, run a small amount of good, clear glue over it with your finger. Smooth over any excess so it is not noticeable.
Seam splits have been around for decades. Most are easy to fix, with a set of markers and glue. Even a true, right through split can be fixed to the point where it is hardly noticeable.

Sure it can be prevented if the vendor is willing to remove the vinyl from the sleeve, which all retailers selling high end reissues *should* give the option of. I wish more would.

If you lived in the North East of England I'd be driving my stones box over to you now as every sleeve in the box is split (which I was fairly compensated for so I'm not being pissy).
