Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 7 - January 2020 /// Clarence Clarity - No Now

I’ve listened to a bit more in the gym this morning and I get hints of Skrillex coming through too. I look forward to exploring more!
Great to hear that you go to the gym!🏋️‍♂️💪

Clarence Clarity’s No Now would actually be perfect to play at the gym because the tracks sound larger than life, embrace maximalism and the production does not hold back! It’s an absolute unpredictable rollercoaster of Sounds that really gives you that adrenaline! Even the schizophrenic nature in some of the tracks would totally give you that boost of energy! 💡🥊

I gave this a listen today on my way to work. While I'm not sure it's entirely my thing, it was definitely interesting and I found myself picking out lots of different musical influences. I will be giving it a second listen in the near future when I can sit down and study it more closely. Once again a great pick, I love this club!

The second listen opens it up a lot more. I am on my 3rd and it is growing on me. :)

I am so happy to hear this!

I'm so honored people are really taking the time out of their days to listen to this and try to wrap their heads around it. This little club of ours is really something special.

For those of you looking to explore further (if you haven't already), I highly recommend Clarence's follow-up album Think: Peace. It's much tamer than No Now and is much easier to digest on first listen. Unfortunately as of right now there isn't a vinyl pressing so you'll have to stick with streaming, but it is a really great sophomore album that takes a lot of the craziness of No Now and puts it a more accessible context.

Also highly recommended is this playlist he compiled of non-album singles and early versions of songs released between No Now and Think: Peace, which has some real 🔥🔥🔥 stuff in it

Clarence has also been producing for Rina Sawayama the last few years, resulting primarily in this mini-album where you can hear his influence pretty profoundly

Also, just for kicks, here are two bonus tracks from the Japanese version of the album if you're interested

Also, JQBX peeps - as @Teeeee suggested a few days ago, I'd like to try to have a listening party for the AOTM in the JQBX at some point in the near future. I just need feedback from y'all on what time/day/etc is good for everyone. I know with all of our different schedules and whatnot that it will be almost impossible to get everyone in there at the same same time but I would like to include as many of us as possible.

Basically - let me know when y'all will be free and we'll try to work it out from there ^_^

right now.

Discogs lists 3 versions of BELLA481V. One of which is identified as including a CD. The other two are separated by country of origin and a Limited dénotation on the U.K. one. The EU entry has sufficient info to confirm the one I bought was listed incorrectly as the limited version. I am curious if anyone can confirm a limited U.K. version actually exists or if there are duplicate entries on Discogs. The EU is specified as gatefold and includes the MP3 download hype sticker.

Well since I've asked a few times for this, I hope that "right now" didn't occur. Or if it did, that it was wildly successful and Gap will want to do it again! :)

If it's a weekend or xmas, please just DM me. Since I take breaks from here on the weekend, I would still get the email and can hop onto JQBX. I really want to have Gap escort me through the album.

I said that mostly in jest, it looks like it will be occurring during it's *official* month in 2020
