Movies

My buddy Shane just had his first movie (screenwriter) drop on Netflix. The critics are shitting on it-- but my roommate and I found it pretty damn funny. It's just extremely anti-PC and a bit rough around the edges editing wise (guessing there were heavy cuts in the editing room). Script was on the 2014 blacklist (which tracks the best unmade screenplays).

Ed Helms, Betty Gilpin (from GLOW) and the director of Goon.

Onward was great. A little tough to watch if you've lost your father but still very enjoyable. Well done, Pixar, once again.

Rented Never Rarely Sometimes Always and Swallow today....both were great. I love that I can watch these at home through this insanity.

Bohemian Rhapsody was really good in the imax cinema... the concert stuff was great ... if you ignore the historical accuracy it’s a decent film ..rocketman was also surprisingly good

Continuing a journey through old Disney movies, we watched Sleeping Beauty last night and Alice In Wonderland tonight. Definitely still love Alice, though there are some Looney Tunes-like moments that don’t work as well. Sleeping Beauty, I don’t think I ever saw. It’s strange kinda. The animation isn’t like the earlier films, and the titular character doesn’t come across as the protagonist. It’s really a story about the fairies and Maleficent, so now I get why Maleficent has her own move (haven’t seen it). It’s been interesting watching these old movies. They just feel so different than what Disney went on to make, and I admire them for that even with their flaws in storytelling and character personalities.

Sleeping Beauty, if nothing else, is a technical marvel and absolutely gorgeous.

Started watching the Marvel super hero movies in order ..Iron Man has held up very well, The incredible Hulk less so...best thing was the tony stark final scene...what was the deal with Ed Norton quitting the role ?
