Do you make stuff?

I thought this was a cool study:
"Ultimately, we sought to explain the role of implicit learning processes in artistic cognition, or how the competition between different brain networks can lead to a more effective artistic intuition."

After reviewing past papers related to artistic cognition, Nemeth and his colleagues introduced the idea that when it comes to producing art, "less is more." More specifically, they suggested that "weaker" prefrontal circuits, which are related to executive functions (i.e., cognitive processes that allow humans to control their behavior and focus on a task at hand, such as working memory and flexible thinking), can actually lead to more effective artistic cognition. The researchers refer to this phenomenon as the Andras effect.

"For example, if a photographer can tune down her control functions and access to long-term memories, she can perceive a 'different world'; a world without expectations or past memories," Nemeth said. "We can call this intuitive photography."

Dude I have said this before but I'm always in awe of your skills making these. Just so impressive.

I'm an Architect and there was a project a while back where old doors were been sent off to specialists (at crazy high costs) to have their stained glass replaced repaired. I know this is probably a fun hobby for you but there's definitely a niche market for restorations or reproductions of this sort.

Thank you! Please shoot me a message here or on KS so I can link your KS and N&G accounts/names. I want to throw in some extra stuff for you and any N&G folks who pledge. This forum has been a huge help over the last few months with all the record sales from folks here to help me cover some non-baby emergency bills right before the baby came & also general advice like easy breezy TV recs I can watch while up late feeding the little creature. ✌🏽
So....you're funded! Yay!

I take it just short of the book ghost?

Also, is the numbering in order of which number backer you are on KS? I'm sure it's in the updates, but I'm gonna be lazy on this one.

Woo!
Yeah. We were just short of that last ghost, unfortunately.
Numbering will be in order with some adjustments for flawed pins (which will get put aside) and cases where a full set gets matching #s, etc.
Thanks again for backing! I’m excited for the actual production & fulfillment.
EDIT: If you're reading this and you gave to my Kickstarter and you haven't already told me your KS name/username, DM me! I'd like to include an extra gift for N&G members.

Latest one. I’m having successes and failures - enjoying it is the main thing. I’m moving on soon to local scenery and that is when I see if the techniques I’m picking up have prepared me for the step up.

I really like the sky, especially the clouds in this one.
I'm super nerdy when it comes to art, so you can just tell me to stop and I will understand that I have gone too far down a rabbit hole that you don't want to go down. So for years and years, I took art classes and I always had to do some sort of color wheel and shades of colors. I didn't quite get why we were doing all of this until I picked up a paintbrush and started painting again. What you have going on here is some really great color contrast. Blue and orange are opposite each other on the color wheel (as are red/green and yellow/purple) and putting a color next to it's contrast will make it pop. It's largely because one is a cool color and one is a warm color. What really opened up my paintings and made them more realistic is understanding how warm and cool interact together in a painting. If you have a warm light source, you want your shadows from this source to be cool, and vice versa.

I really like this guy's videos. He does mainly portraits--which is my thing--but the concepts he presents in his videos can be applied to landscapes too.

Thanks will take a look, I have to be quite organised with colour as I’m Red Green colourblind.
*Typical common type colour blindness usually in males.
Means sometimes I have to trust to shadings by making a batch and making sure I’m using it all even if I can’t tell the diff. That doesn’t quite explain it tbh but I get by. My issue is rectifying mistakes later down the line, I’m never going to make an accurate shade of colour to match, would be fine for me but you would see it If I made an alteration.
Willdefo check out the vide tho 👍🏻

there could be some fun in that, as you begin to explore on your own more. wabi-sabi, finding beauty in imperfection and all.

whether a mistake in art is deliberate, accidental, or the result of a dichromacy, it brings stuff to life a bit more. maybe because we lack symmetry in life, we can find more proximity to art that way.

or not! who knows ha, you can always just run with it. and if it you fear it looks unblended as opposed to intriguing, you could always ask for an opinion.

I painted this for someone while listening to their album and got paid for it. I made sure I’m allowed to make prints and honestly I’m still humbled/in shock. If you like independent hip-hop, check out Lukah’s new one. Really cool, down to earth guy that I couldn’t be happier I decided to spin his record and tag him randomly on Instagram.

I'm horribly near sighted and have been so since I was six. My SIL once said that it was cool because I could experience the world in a totally different way than other people. I just rolled my eyes because my SIL is flighty, but in a way she's right. I do more impressionistic paintings and I wonder if part of me having to train myself to use more lines and less shading in drawing was because of this. While I think it's a cool concept that I "see" the world differently, being near sighted is still a pain in the ass, but it probably did help shape my art.

I'm revisiting an earlier drawing and making it into a painting. I started it but am not finished yet. And your landscapes are making me want to do a couple cloud/tree paintings too. I will post my progress once the server will let me upload a picture.

This is so cool. I'm so glad you got noticed!! You deserve it.

Excellent look forward to seeing the results.
I find it quite hard to show people (regardless this thread appears to show opposite). I know i’m just starting and shouldn’t be so hard on myself - I’m quite happy to post it on a forum than show my friends etc 🤷‍♂️
I’ve nearly wiped a painting a number of times now but held off and kept the end result regardless of my thoughts on it.
