Anyone have any of the AP Monk pressings? I’m wondering if I need to upgrade my 80’s OJC pressings to these, specifically for Brilliant Corners and Misterioso.

Original copies are fantastic too. I’ve had a couple US pressings and all sound great. It’s probably one of, if not the, best recorded reggae album ever.

But agreed. A reissue is definitely warranted though OG pressings (and the CD) sound perfect as is.

I bought it shortly after the box because I was so mad it didn’t include his mastering for the studio album. It’s absolutely fantastic and just as good (I’d say it’s a tie) with my original copy. I’d bet it’s AAA too but I’m not 100% sure.

No idea how that’s going to work if you didn’t order from Craft though. More to come.

Violent Femmes update! Email from Craft: “ Hi Mitch, Thanks so much for your patience, and apologies it took a moment for us to get to the bottom of what happened here. We did find out that the pressing plant inadvertently used the incorrect parts for the original album in the box set...

I agree on American Beauty. The 45 is better but it’s nice to not have to get up every 8 minutes. Honestly, the 45 rpm pressing is one of the best pressings I have of any record but the Rhino 33 is also really good. I’d say it’s on par with my original green label pressing. I’m quite happy with it.

I have the 2013 cut by Sean Magee and it’s such a great sounding record. The bass is insane. Surprised they had Tim Young cut a different master but he always does great work. Do you have the 2013 or an OG to compare?

So to follow up on the Violent Femmes box, I ended up buying a Kevin Gray pressing from a fine fellow in Canada on Discogs. Paid a bit more than I’d like but I’m incredibly glad to say that this is how the record should sound. Comparing the KG cut to the box cut is light and day. The KG has an...

Yeah bit the bullet on American Beauty even though I have a couple different pressings. My favorite Dead studio album.

    Vinyl Me, Please Rock

If T Rex includes Ride a White Swan or if they add it as a 7” single, then I’ll get it. If not, well I already have a UK original. It’s a solid album though! Would’ve rather they did Slider, Tanx, or Dandy though.

This is correct though all the 80’s albums are really quite good. Vini Reilly is a hell of guitar player. Played on the first Morrissey solo album too.

Wow just got the new Violent Femmes box and what a complete and utter disappointment for the studio album. I was under the impression Kevin Gray was cutting the whole box but it looks like it’s just the same current pressing that’s out there...

Looks like the Spotify edition was the same as the store exclusive clear. But yeah, hopefully they don’t cancel. Indie store exclusive with alternate cover.

Should note that most (all?) of Fugazi’s albums are up for sale in color versions. Pretty cool op to grab a few. Can’t go wrong with any album really.
