Love this Alabaster record. I'd add Shabaka Hutchings' albums with the Ancestors or Sons if Kemet to this list. Also Yelfris Valdés "For the Ones".

i think the same could possibly be said about the idea of "any electric miles album" working as a record to listen to... because though they are great something like on the corner or get up with it is a bit much for people

Oh man, maybe it's an international thing with them getting warped in transit?

I picked up most of the BBE J-Jazz series when it first started up (first 6 albums and first 2 comps) and never had an issue with any of them. Although maybe the quality has dropped in the past 10 releases and I haven't had chance to see the difference.
 
This might be a bit of a niche one, but Jazz In Britain has released pre-orders for their latest book by the British music journalist Duncan Heining. It focuses on six British jazz composers Michael Garrick, Mike Gibbs, Barry Guy, John Mayer, Keith Tippett and Mike Westbrook.

I’ve been spared but I’ve also gotten most from them while in London. They did have bad QC during the pandemic though from what I heard. Forget if they were using Pallas or optimal

While I’ve had my share of heartbreaking vinyl experiences — so far BBE hasn’t been one for me. That’s a bummer @bornard.

Can I introduce you to a club called VMP? (I kid, I kid…. I’ll show myself out…)

yeah, im in the middle of warp returns from VMP as well, literally the only part of these records that touch the platter is the spindle hole...ive stopped buying BBE completely, but couldn't pass up the Masaru Imada Planets, which I bought from amazon, but unfortunately, I only got to open it yesterday as been living out of the US for over a year...so can't return....VMP at least asked how they could help, I sent them videos of the vinyls not touching the platter

Yikes - though with VMP many have found their customer service to be pretty terrific in responding. Good luck - and welcome back to the US!

That Evans and Cannonball is a fun record. Glad it'll be more readily available for people who don't own it.

Great find! A really decent title as well, I would have preferred "Misterioso" personally (because I don't have any haha) but this is a fantastic album!

I will end up ordering I think. I have a '58 pressing (2nd I guess) which has a bit of noise annoyingly so this will be great.

Any idea when its up for pre-order?
