Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary Review

Considering if I should swap my KEF LS50’s for Lintons. My office space is small (12’ x 12’), which I think is why the Uni-Q drivers work well there.

What is the minimum distance from the speakers that you’d recommend with the Lintons? Thinking about a speaker with a broader soundstage than the LS50 to mix it up a bit.

I sit about 8 feet from mine. I still love mine BTW. The only speakers I’d consider to replace them would be Mission 770s or Dovedales.

I think my problem with the Dovedale is that the price puts them in the waters with the lower end of the Tannoy Classics or Fyne Vintage and both of those really do interest me a lot.

I'm at about 6' and all is well :)

The warmth of my Lintons seems a very good match to my otherwise unwarm system. There are many virtues to our pair of recapped and serviced Crown PS-200 pro audio amps - high current, good damping, dynamic frequency response and a DC current protection circuit.

But that said, they’re also known for high frequency tone akin to breaking glass. Thanks in large part to info here, we’ve got a clean gain stack on the input and transparent Mogami cabling which allows the Lintons to present a nice non-fatiguing sound stage.

Every time I get the itch to look at Mission 770s I end up deciding against any speakers that are more forward.

Damn, I'm officially set up in my new space in Brooklyn with the Lintons. I hate to say it, but these things no longer fit in aesthetic wise :[. So large and towering in such a small space. It may be time to try something new and more "chic" looking with a smaller profile.

It sucks that they don't fit the look of your new place, but congrats on completing the cross country move!

Hmmm, sounds like you might want to swap for a pair of KEF LS50’s! 😁

Care to share pics of your room? Curious how out of place they are!

Sure, the room is messy cause naturally, the only thing I prioritized getting unpacked was records and the rig lol. Had them initially wider apart but we're putting a bookshelf on that wall to the left and felt it weird that you had to go behind a speaker to get there lol. Not toeing in at all because I'm just trying to make it sound good enough from any where in the room, which it certainly does.IMG_2636.jpg
