  • Seeing Yo-Yo Ma tonight for the first time ever. He’ll be performing all 6 Bach Cello Suites at the Hollywood Bowl. I am over the moon excited 😊

    Oh, hell yeah!

I'd slot that one in with Tom Waits and Bruce Springsteen for my top 3 dream shows to attend, for sure.

I saw him at a Heart show once rocking out in the audience! Was no music snob.

Ahaha that’s beautiful and seems perfectly on brand. This is going to be a hell of a night. I saw him at Tanglewood as a kid when I was too young to appreciate what I was hearing and as I’ve grown up I’ve always regretted not being able to recall the experience. Time to correct that!
Whoever presses Men I Trust albums needs to just go ahead and press all contemporary records from now on.

Return To Analog is a small Montreal label. Not sure where they get their pressings done. The biggest canadian plant is PRP but I know there's a small one in Montreal too (Le Vinylist). Le Lab mastering in Montreal also does a really good job with mastering. I have 4-5 mastered there and they're excellent. What does the matrix say?
Don’t kill me, but Nine Inch Nails and Billie Eilish sometimes sound the same
This Billie Eilish Disney+ concert is wonderful, magical really. Astounded by her talent and message ❤️

Saw the ad for this last night and am considering watching it. Probably will now. I've only heard her stuff on the radio but like what I've heard.
Y'all... I think last night was the best night of my life. Drove 3 hours into the desert to see a private outdoor Big Thief show under the full moon. Bonfires, string lights, warm beer, and beautiful musicians. The night ended sitting around a bonfire with Adrianne Lenker, Buck Meek and the rest of the band. I feel I peaked and its all down hill from here.
Just got invited to a private Big Thief house show in the desert tmm night…. Am I dreaming? Hello? God, it’s me Margaret
Noticed something very interesting. On high volumes I can hear the music before it starts “playing” as the needle gets closer to it. So in quiet passages I’ll hear in instances an incredibly quiet string of keys on a bill evans song half a second before it actually starts “playing” that exact string. It’s hard to explain, but is this normal? It’s like a reverse echo!
I started a concert fund 2 years ago and money automatically gets saved there with an app I use and over COVID it got rather healthy, so I am absolutely splurging on concerts coming up. From September - November I will be seeing Isaiah Rashad, Durand Jones, Yo-Yo Ma, James Blake, Herbie Hancock, Men I Trust, Ty Segal, Outside Lands Fest, Desert Daze fest, and potentially Wolf Alice + Dry Cleaning :D Gotta love saving
I need like 2000 more Bossa Nova albums

Thats incredible. I'll have to check Dota out. My mom had this CD called Red Hot + Rio which was some very 2000's bossa nova inspired electronica music, type of stuff you'd hear in a swanky hotel lobby or something. Little did I know those CD's would help me latch onto Bossa Nova later in life.

Dont sleep on the Sinatra Jobim album, its great as well and stellarly recorded at Capitol. You can probbaly find a good vintage copy for $5 or less if your a digger.

@JohnnyCashFan had a copy for a little bit but very early in my collecting days, probably the dirtiest and noisiest record I have ever played on my table. Need to track down a clean copy of that one, love Sinatra personally and thought he approached those standards with grace, could've easily butchered and appropriated them but he gave them the proper time they deserved
My weekend USPS guy is the worst. 9/10 if I have something out for delivery on a Saturday it will never get delivered, then update Sunday to “Awaiting Delivery Scan” only to sometimes go out for Delivery again on Monday. Today though, it went from “Out for Delivery” to “Arrived at Post Office”. What is going on lol

currently going through the exact same thing lol. Young guy on the weekend not delivering packages. thinking of calling the post office.

My regular postal person is outstanding, but sometimes she's away and whomever is covering just puts failed delivery notices in my mailbox without even buzzing to try and deliver the packages. Not the end of the world, but I hate having to wait until the next afternoon to pick up at the post office when I'd been at home the whole time.

Chances are it's a part timer on weekends. At least your stuff isn't ending up at his house, the local shops, or in the ocean. But I would still make a complaint to your local office post master about it. We love our regular guy and leave him candy.
After over a year of tinkering with my Fluance RT85 trying to find the sound I’ve been looking for and variable test issues I’ve had with it I’ve decided its time to sell it off, put that money towards a Bluesound Node while I divert my monthly vinyl spend towards getting an endgame deck (Technics, Rega or Ultradeck). Not looking forward to 6-12 months of no vinyl but it’s time

Kind of thought that might be the way you would go. Can you squeeze in a VPI Classic ? You can hear one at Upscale. I don't think you would ever own another table. If not the Mofi and Technic are very good options. I also think you would love a Grado on either table for those female vocals alone.

I'll take a look at them, not very familiar with VPIs @JohnnyCashFan . Think my goal with an endgame is to get something that will require as little tinkering as possible while still promoting easy experimentation (i.e. different carts and the sort). For that reason I'm being skewed towards Technics surprisingly, jsut don't think they're the prettiest of things.

For what it's worth, I think you can get wooden plinths made for Technics or custom cases. I think my buddy had a red technics that was an aftermarket mod that looks pretty sweet.
Brought my Fluance to my local hi-fi shop to tackle the sibilance + distortion issues I've been facing the past year+ and he did some small tweaks to my alignment and it worked a miracle. Previously, my Miles Davis - Ascenseur (Sams Record) pressing was unplayable due to a cyclical static noise that persisted through the entire listen. Used it as my test record when I got home and voila!!! ITS GONE, OH HAPPY DAY!
Summer of Soul!!! What a film man, that gospel section with Mavis and Mahalia had me balling like a baby, so much beauty, pain, and power contained within. One of the most moving things I’ve seen in a long time
Just released my first podcast episode since before COVID. Join me as I talk to Adriana McCassim, an LA based indie-rock singer/songwriter that has been compared to a young Sharon Van Etten, by SVE herself. Had an absolute blast, she was a great guest and her music is even better! Check it out
