Kanye

@Jonathan Y as the resident scholar on all things Kanye, what ARE your thoughts about the events of recent months? Is this a calculated plan to do...something? Is it a manic episode? Combo of both?

Not baiting -- I just know you have always felt like he's somewhat misunderstood by the media and that what look like random acts of erratic behavior are sometimes part of a larger narrative that is difficult to see. Just wondering what you think of his trajectory in the last year.

(i.e. not asking you to act as his defense attorney -- I don't think you excuse a lot of what he's said, but I think you might have an explanation for why you think he's saying it)
To be honest....I have no clue how he got to where he did over the last few months. I wanna say it's something as simple as spending too much time with Candace Owens....I wanna say he has a list of 15-20 people that happen to be in power positions over him, like he stated in the now removed Drink Champs podcast and in true Kanye fashion alienated an entire religion instead of his enemies specifically. I can't say wtf it is tho. He has completely lost touch of reality once again. I won't make excuses and say it's whenever women he loves, leave him (see his mom, Amber Rose, Kim, etc.) but really it is just sad. Really sad because there was a period a couple years ago when you could see him becoming the richest entertainer and Kanye fans all said I really hope becoming a billionaire doesn't ruin him completely...sure enough

Interested to see what Spotify does given how they treated Joe Rogan.....

Side note: Is Manson's music still on Apple Music? How about R. Kelly?

Has Kanye's music been removed from Apple completely, or have they just stopped featuring a Kanye Essentials playlist curated by Apple itself?

Edit: I think I saw a statement from Spotify yesterday saying that the music itself does not violate any of Spotify's content policies, so it will be up to the label to make the decision about whether to withdraw the catalog from their service.

Sad times we live in. It's impossible to be a Kanye fan these days. To answer some of what is being asked, I've been watching interviews with him to understand what he's trying to say and I think for him, he's always had issues expressing himself what he really means. It just seems to me that he's purposely trying to shock people by saying outlandish things but whether he believes in what he's saying I can't be sure. I would hope that he doesn't really believe an entire religious group is the cause of his issues and what's holding him back. And that he is only saying these things to draw attention and shock people into listening to him. Not that makes anything right at all but at least clarifies his intent.

If he's doing this just for attention, It really sucks that he would do this and alienate his fans because this will truly cutoff a lot of people who listen to him but it seems like music isn't even that much of a priority to him these days. He hurt a lot of people and despite what he thinks, there's no really coming back from that

I don’t even know what you are talking about.
Kanye said "fake children" were sent to his home to influence the way his kids acted, spoke, etc.

Not sure if he meant they were hired actors? Like I said I have given up on trying to connect the dots that remain

P.T. Barnum once said, “There’s no such thing as bad publicity,” which is almost as good as Oscar Wilde’s version, who put it like this: “There’s only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.”

AND HERE WE ARE.
