That looks interesting. I would have to get a toslink - rca converter to connect to my old Marantz

Lack of digital input into my amp is smashing me on the 4K players - have to pay a good amount to get RCA outputs. Found a cheap Sony DVD player ($50!) that will do the job for me!

No, I don’t think so. as long as you can get the outputs from the player to an input of your receiver. I don’t have a digital input on my
Stereo receiver. A toslink to rca cable is a DAC. Shouldn’t be an issue using it “headless”. I can try it next week if you want.

No worries. I am probably a couple of months away from buying one of these so I am good
