Curious if anyone has compared the Verve AS Oliver Nelson to the fairy recent (2019ish?) Impulse reissue? I have the Impulse and it sounds quite good, but wondering if the Verve sounds even better.

I have the one from a few years ago and wasn’t really thrilled with the sound, so got the AS, but haven’t listened to it just yet. I should try to A/B…

I'll be interested to hear the P4k Review of the release!
Here's my .02 review. The band is on fire, I saw them live twice on that tour. The recording absolutely sucks. Again, I got through side one and shelved it. Look for a digital file and save your money.

And I'll be damned, the Amazon app on my wife's ipad worked but wouldn't work on my phone. Of course, "you already have enough records" came up.

I figured as much.

I have the Set of the NY Shows (Wiser for the Time) and the Live Set recorded at Boston's Orpheum (shows I was at by the way). Both are quality recordings but aren't from the mid-90s range when they were just kicking ass every night.

And the Wiser shows don't have Eddie Harsch. His Hammond was such an important part of the ebb and flow of their extended live jams. The organ part on Descending is still on the Mount Rushmore piano/organ solos on a Studio album.

I need to get a copy of the Freak and Roll into the Fog. The closer "The Night They Drove Ol Dixie Down" is so good.
