Bugs

that happened to me yesterday, too. no issues on my phone/ipad, but my desktop pc with chrome was pulling the download window up. clearing my cache solved it, but it took a couple hours of trying to figure out what was going on before i tried that route. i could manually enter the subforum addresses and navigate within those just fine. but going to the main needlesandgrooves.com page, either through links here or by entering manually through the address bar made the download window pop up.

fyi @RenegadeMonster, this issue arising seemed to coincide with the bluehost issue being resolved on their end.

The issue we had the other day was a corrupted Apache configuration file. So I guess it's possible very strange things could have occurred such as the forum wanting to download itself.

The issue has been resolved, but I suspect the issue now is just peoples caches containing corrupted data. It likely may only effect people who visited the forum while we were having the issues. @AndySlash, I suspect it only effected the home page for you as that was all you were trying to hit when the forum was having issues.

If anyone is having this issue still clearing your cache will resolve it.

why does the entire site become unavailable so often?

It seems like once every 8 weeks or so I need to reboot the server.

But I have not been aware of any global issues with the site being unavailable in recent weeks. How often are we talking about and when did it last happen?

Any idea why the site tries to auto embed this link from MLB? It’s a video, just never seen it try to auto embed.

@RenegadeMonster

It's the media embed addon we have. Videos from CNN and other news sites do the same as well.

We added the media addon after Instagram stopped supporting oEmbeds so people could continue to post content from Instagram without just a link that said "Instagram - Login" appearing.

Noticed that the react bar is a bit wonky on mobile now after adding the eyes emoji:

Hmm, that might be cached. I saw that yesterday, it had to do with the 2x image for high pixel density screens. I made a fix to it and it has has been behaving for me since. Just checked on my phone and it was good.

I saw the issue on my Apple Displays for my Mac yesterday.

That baseball video keeps playing in echo (2x times out of sync by a couple seconds) everytime I come to this thread and it scares the crap out of me each and every time when it starts playing...

Is there any way to remove/lower the message throttling for DMs specifically? Bit annoying to have to wait 30 seconds between messages when responding to several DMs.

We have actually already lowered it from the default 2 minutes.

Consider me impressed that you have enough DM to trigger this, and can read and reply to each one in under 30 seconds. Are you sure you not a bot? j/k

Though turning off that throttle I'm sure would be that sex bots wet dream who comes here every couple months and slides into people's dm's.

I don't think it would be a wise idea to lower or remove that throttle tbh.

Even 10-15 seconds would be an improvement.

Example: when I put half a dozen items up in the PIF thread and have to maintain threads for each of them, let each person know when they've shipped, etc. It gets a bit irritating.

Eat a Snickers in between PIF responses. Or pop open a Snapple.
