Equipment Recommendations - The Home For New System and Upgrade Advice

I only tried the Klipsch R-15PM's, they were fine, but lacked any real power behind them. They didn't last long and went back before the return window closed. At that point we ditched the "clean" set up for ELACs, Pre and amp, lol

Ah, the card setup! Loved that layout.

The Klipsch were potentials. Thinking I could get a set of actives while my stuff is getting shipped. Stream off that then add a TT when it arrives.

I'll be setting up the Fluance this week, maybe even this evening if I can get to it. I can't decide what the first album to spin will be. Probably something that I know really well...
What do you folks use for your 'system test' record?
I usually go with a mix of stuff I've been listening to a lot recently, as well as a handful of specific songs. I always play "Thinking of a Place" by The War on Drugs. It has a LOT of layers/tracks with subtle details, which in my experience reveal/clarify themselves more and more as I've improved my gear.

Usually In Rainbows Diskbox or One Step Blood on the Tracks. They’re my two best sounding records and ones I know inside out.

That’s exactly what it should be right there, @ranbalam! That’s what we use in audio to learn a room, is a cut we know exactly how it should sound.

I realize I'll listen to them all at some point, but it's funny how big of a decision my first spin is becoming.

Probably one of these:
Mofi - Elvis and Burt - Painted from Memory
Pet Sounds - AP mono
Radiohead - In Rainbows - not a special pressing but the 2016 XL I have sounds really good.
Grateful Dead -Workingman's Dead - OG - not that it's known to be dynamic, but the copy I have is so clean and present.
Houses of the Holy - 2014 re-issue - there's not much music I know inside and out more than Zep

I wish I had a nice copy of Aja.

I gotta get that Elvis & Burt MoFi.

Anyone have any experience with connecting a turntable to a set of active/powered speakers? Planning well in advance for a second system and wondering if this is an option. I have a separate phono stage, so I can go phono>speakers no bother.
I started this way with a AT-LP120 and some Kanto YU3s. It worked well enough. I describe it as the Aiwa boom box of vinyl setups. A bit muddy and boomy, but not terrible as background listening.

I have been rounding out my two systems and feel I am getting close to a good place that will keep me satisfied for awhile, with the exception of potential speakers/new phono.

On one system I have a dual 1229 with an AT vm95ml/mofi studiophono/marantz hd-amp1/Wharfedale lintons. I do not plan on making any changes to this setup anytime soon.

On the other system I have a dual 1249(1219 that I need to service) with an at120e/pioneer sa9100 (internal phono or uturn phono)/Kef q100 and Elac b6 into another room. I will probably at some point upgrade the phono to a studiophono or darlington, but am not sure on speaker. Space is more limited, so most likely will want a bookshelf. Also, it is in dining room/kitchen, so I want something that is not picky about placement/listening position. Overall budget is open, most likely would not go over 2k, would like to stay closer to 1k, but offer a decent improvement over the q100. Right now looking at Wharfedale Denton 85 or Kef ls50meta, but am not sure if there is a better option in that price range.
