Was one the Fountains of Wayne? Got a response yesterday that it was backordered. I don't even see it on the site anymore. Wasn't backordered when I ordered it 😂. Kinda bummed about that one, will need to see if I can find it somewhere else.
That’s the preordered one, but haven’t got a cancellation notice yet. Last time I got a refund from them it took 30+ days after I returned an item (a box set *missing* albums), so I think I’m remembering why I quit using them.

I didn't get cancellation either, I emailed because I was wondering if it was shipping soon. Got a vague response that didn't really tell me if they thought they would be getting it or not.

they aren't my go-to by any stretch, but they do tend to have a bunch of older stuff i can't find anywhere else for good prices (like that KG Electric Warrior and a bunch of older Rhino reissues that are fantastic).

yep. the deluxe coming out at a high price tag made people buy up a lot of the OGs. prices wouldn't have gone up as much on the OGs if they had released just a 2LP reissue for $25 or $30.

the industry does seem to have an overconfident approach to lou reed reissues. yet they keep reissuing mediocre, cheap pressings of "transformer" here in the states which is obviously the one everyone and their grandma wants.

The Speaker's Corner reissue of Transformer is fantastic. I know it's not a US pressing but I'd recommend tracking that one down if you're lookin for it. JPC has it and their shipping to the US is pretty affordable especially if you add a few items in. I bought 3 Speakers Corner albums from them and they were all cheaper than if I bought any from US stores that stock them new. Only downside is with the current state of mail, it can take awhile to receive it (mine took about 6 weeks but arrived safe and sound with no seam splits or anything).

Well, you got me. Ordered. Added Miles Smiles and Horses just because :ROFLMAO:

I grabbed Horses in my last order. It's an awesome pressing.
Happy to hear that, there was a less than stellar review on Discogs but I wasn't buying it. I only have a couple Speakers Corners (Monk in Tokyo, Yusef Lateef Blue) and they are both great. Guessing there may be a dud or two, but I'll push my luck for now.

My last order from Jpc was the best-packaged order I've ever gotten. A nice LP mailer inside a much larger box full of styrofoam peanuts. Can't say it was good for the environment, but great for undamaged records.

Would love other Speaker's Corner recs. I was waiting for that transformer to be back in stock as well. I have an Isley Brothers and a couple of Miles Davis. Thinking about Horses, but I've never really been able to get into that album. Keep thinking it will happen with age...

Transformer is amazing. That one probably gets the most spins from me of the Speakers Corners pressings I have (I think I'm at 8 or 9 now). If you don't love Horses, then skip it but it's a great pressing. Bill Withers - Just As I Am is awesome from SC. I have always liked their pressings but they weren't super easy or affordable to get in the US since they are based in Europe. I definitely keep my eye out though. They have done tons of great titles.

I really love the Blue Yusef Lateef. One of my favorite finds from this place, and the Speakers Corner sounds fantastic.

I really like Transformer. In addition to Miles Smiles, I have Round About Midnight from Miles which is great. The other two I have are Herbie Hancock - Crossings and Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire, both of which are really well done as well.
