Vinyl Me Please Essentials

MOV actually kicks ass on is this it. I had the original EU press and the MOV sounded way better. The newest white version of that album is the same runout from MOV so I'm pretty thoroughly satisfied with that album now in terms of a great sounding copy with a fun asthetic.

Pretty much same for room on fire, pretty sure Newbury wouldn't have done anything special with their mix but it sounds great to me as well.

I don't necessarily want to give vmp money but they have credit of mine still which I need to use. I also see the exchange rate is in favour right now.

Does anyone know if you can use your credits when you sign up for membership?

Here is a trick that it’s worth trying. That’s a single LP that is $39 in store if they still have stock and it’s been added to the store to buy yet.

When I log onto the system first and then go into the store and add an album to my basket it treats me as a member and still gives me free shipping. If that works for you: (a) you don’t have to re-sub; (b) it’s a store purchase so you can use your credits; and (c) $39 is cheaper than $52/$49.67 for the 1/3 months...

I bought 4/5 exclusives from them with free shipping this way last year this way despite last being an actual member in January 2020. Obviously if it’s one that’s in demand, like Spiritualized or Aretha last year, it’s prudent to re-sub or see if someone who is still a member will do a solid favour.

Tbh the MOV of is this it is fairly mediocre (I own it, it's a very clean pressing but weirdly for a short record like that it felt tiring), so I'm hoping that Room on Fire sounds better than the MOV pressing

Signed back up for RoF after the reviews. $52 is still cheaper than buying on eBay / Discogs. It's not exactly cheap but if there are only a few VMP albums that appeal to me per year then it's not too bad doing it one month at a time.
I've spun it maybe 3 or 4 times now. It's ridiculously good. I'm standing by my statement above that this is the best ROTM that they've ever put out. In fact I'm not sure anything is even close. Maybe Pinkerton if I was pushed.

I listened to mine last night and thought, nah this is more than good enough for the strokes I’m grand...

MOV was just hyped as amazing sounding audiophile mastering even though it's digital but it wasn't want more shocking than vmp

The album was recorded in 2002, I’d be shocked it everything about it wasn’t digital?

I have the sunburst coloured one from last year, pressed from the MOV masters. and I’m really happy with how it sounds. This may sound better but $52 better? I’m not sure if a strokes album is capable of being made that much better...

I dunno why I don't like the mov press of is this it, probably had my hopes up since it was my first MOV and people said MOV was a great cheap audiophile label (though yeah they are all digital people seem to love the presses) and I dunno maybe it's Julian's voice or something but it doesn't sound right on the pressing

Just spinning the first song I noticed that Room on fire was more dynamic and punchy

Which Room On Fire pressing are you spinning? The Music On Vinyl (MOV) pressing or Vinyl Me, Please (VMP) pressing?

I'm really happy to hear so far that the VMP pressing for The Strokes' "Room On Fire" sounds superb!!!🙌

VMP

the only MOV i have is their debut

Yeah I gotta say I’m very pleased with the Room on Fire pressing. I really wasn’t expecting it to sound this good. Very punchy.

I'm so happy other people are loving The Strokes - Room On Fire RotM. VMP has done a fantastic job of it. Its a punchy, fiesty mix that gives you a feeling that you are no longer afraid of the dark... or midday shadows. It makes me want to sit in a dew soaked field in a pair of tie-dyed speedos while my dog chases rabbits about like they're pigs in a cage on antibiotics. Its a truly exciting grown up release. Nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate but a sharp, dynamic and exciting package. Like an informed and empowered member of society.

OKAY EVERYONE THIS IS IT, THIS IS NOT A DRILL. ROWAN BANG ON SOME WATER PIPES! DO YOU KNOW MORSE CODE? WHAT DO YOU SEE AROUND YOU? IS IT DARK? CAN YOU SEE A STREET SIGN?

NATHAN LIKES SEXXXY THINGS, TRY TO DISTRACT HIM. IS THERE A TV NEARBY? PUT ON A SEXXXY SHOW, MAYBE SOMETHING WITH FIREFIGHTERS? I DON'T KNOW.

WE'RE ON OUR WAY, YOU GUYS DIAL 9-1 AND IF I DON'T REPORT BACK IN 3 HOURS, DIAL THE OTHER 1.

I feel like I'm living out a verse of Hallelujah that even Cohen realised was too fucked up to include. It's no life being tied to a chair with a a VMP hoody, being fed nothing but dairy lea slices straight from the fridge while 'Especially For You' plays on repeat in the background

Everyone needs to update the N&G passwords immediately. Clearly there has been a data breach. @NathanRicaud now is in control of @Rowan account.

Got my replacement for John Prine. It is more distorted and had as many skips as the copy they were replacing, so I'm DONE with the VMP version.

I still really like the album and want a copy. Does anyone have anything to say about the black vinyl version readily available? Is it worth it?

All reviews I have seen are outstanding.
