Definitive Audiophile pressings

Definitely look into those SC pressings, get them while you can, they’ll probably go OPP soonish, whereas BN80 will be round for a little while, Crossings from SC is amazing as well, maybe give it a stream as it’s a bit different but one of my Favourite ‘s and the Vinyl has an amazing soundstage.
Flood is a double live album with some headhunters/man-child funky stuff on it, fantastic! @Anthonyl

Of course, his most well-known titles are stellar, but I'd like to highlight these two (Inventions & Dimensions and Crossings) as two albums that have been incredible surprises to me over the past few years b/c, imho, they're both criminally underrated -- not b/c people don't like them but, rather, they're usually not mentioned in the group of his top-tier titles, and I think they should be.

I can see why this is the case for Crossings bc his Mwandishi trilogy is anything but traditional and, as w/ electric Miles, the jazz establishment was dismissive of anything that didn't swing the way they though "jazz" should swing. Nevertheless, Crossings is probably my favorite Herbie album, and the Speakers Corner press is simply stunning (I also have an OG press that's not in the same league).

As for Inventions & Dimensions, for me, it's been the biggest and best surprise of any of the recent BN series (80/TP/Classics). It's traditional 60s Herbie but with Latin percussion (Willie Bobo & Osvaldo “Chihuahua” Martinez). It's a surprise to me b/c I myself fell victim to the narrower set of titles considered his best and didn't dig into this until the BN80 release. Now it's in the regular rotation.

Totally agree and I'll third that the SC Crossings is stunning. You'll go cross eyed listening to that one.
 
Typically how long does it take Acoustic Sounds to restock back orders? I placed an order for Time Out & Counting Crows at the end of December. I also ordered a MoFi but I’m sure that’s in another category.

So would you say it was a...long December?

there’s really no way to know sadly when things will be back with how busy the plants are. I’m guessing since they are pretty popular they might get repressed soon. Don’t know if they hold to ship until everything is in stock either

the last copies of Love and Theft are out this week if you wanted it and didn’t buy it. Might be hard to find now though.

I played the Rocktober Electric Warrior last night. This might sound horrendous but I'm not sure the improvement in sound from the Mofi (which I have no doubt is there) would be so high that it would offset the inconvenience of getting up two more times. That's more my view on the quality of the Rocktober though and what I'm guessing are fairly diminishing returns.

The KG version is great. I do think the MoFi is better but I think your statement is correct. It’s one of my favorite albums so the sound difference is there for me and worth the flipping but I still think the KG sounds great too.

Would make sense to time if that way.
 
Anybody have the Zeppelin - Mothership box set? It’s back up for $60 on Amazon. I grabbed it because I haven’t been able to find cheap clean older pressings and am still unsure of what reissues might sound good (that I can afford). I think it’s pressed at RTI

MD and MoFi (and other places like Toad Hall although they jack up MoFi prices...). The represses on those titles are done already and are on the truck next week supposedly, so I'd check early next week on the MD and MoFi sites for stock. I'll add links here if i see em first!

The MPS Oscar Peterson 'Exclusively For My Friends' series is amongst the best jazz piano albums I have tbh. Lovely pressings and great music.
