Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Cool but Which game show skit do you prefer more “$20 Sack Pyramid“ on The Chronic or the “Intro” on 3 Feet High and Rising?

While they are both top notch IMO I am a “$20 Sack Pyramid” guy myself...

“Give me my weed, give me my $35 to go to the motherfucking Swap Meet”
This one is pretty good too.

If Poor Righteous Teachers is the Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM next month for 1996, it’s a pass for me! I’m not paying USD$36 for that album! Because of the tax charge, an add-on is USD$36, and The New World Order isn’t worth that price at all in my opinion! Muddy Waters is definitely worth it though!
You’d pay $36 for Waka Flocka Flame?

I would in a heartbeat. Flockaveli is one of the most influential and necessary albums of the past decade whether you want to admit it or not. And for a trap album, the production has aged very very well. Hard in da Paint, No Hands, and Grove Street Party still hold up to this day and still get played constantly at parties.

Yaaaaas Queen! I love that album and imagine mosh pitting in your room to ‘Hard In Da Paint’! 😈🤟🥊

Flockaveli is a one steel-hard, blistering, gangsta crew, rebellious, album that has so much flavour and an album that has incredible production! 🔥🔥🔥

Wowza, don’t think I’ve listened to it since high school but never found it to be anything special. I’ll go give it another listen over! Appreciate the testimony!

We both love D’Angelo, Voodoo and it’s both one of our favourite albums and this album is just so different! I agree with @mitchplease in that Flockaveli has aged very well and is incredibly influential!

Omg @mitchplease! I want to go to the parties you go to if you hear people play some Waka Flocka Flame! I’ve never heard anything from Flockaveli get played at a party, even though those 3 songs you listed are all classic bangers!

Don't get me wrong, there are definitely a few duds in the tracklisting given that it's 17 tracks, but the Lex Luger production really sounds refreshing compared to the trap beats that have flooded rap nowadays. Those few tracks I'm not really a fan of don't take away from the many high points I do enjoy, and I'm quite surprised how often I still find myself listening to songs off it

College at ASU was a great time to say the least haha

You would’ve loved my parties in high school then. There was too much Waka 😂, although the banger that defined my senior year in high school was Shabba - ASAP Ferg, that was a glorious time for underage drinking soirées 😂😂😂

I love Shabba! Such a good track! What a banger to define that year in high school!🔥🔥🔥

I didn’t go to much parties in high school and didn’t go to College and have never done drugs so I never really got a dose of the teenage party life unfortunately. I am very happy I just travelled for six years straight, but I’m a bit sad I never experienced what most people experienced - like just going out and drinking and living out of home and parties/gatherings etc haha

If the years don’t line up with the previous clues and they’ve messed up their dates again 1996 could be labcab
I hope not because the Craft Recordings reissue sounds really good and the Gatefold jacket is really nice as well! I highly recommend that pressing! I got it when VMP was selling it in their store, when they sold non-VMP vinyl reissues and new releases back then!

If it was a future VMP ROTM though, I'd still get it because I freaking love that album! I love Dilla's production on that one so much! In some ways, I prefer it more to their debut album - The Pharcyde - Bizarre Ride II!

Yeah, I got that too. That 1995/96 era would have more California options. Endtroducing might fit, 2Pac definitely would.
