Gotcha! I’m really hoping we get Prince Paul’s “A Prince Among Thieves”! That’s the hip-hop album from 1999 I really, really, really want on vinyl! It would also sell out pretty quickly like Handsome Boy Modelling School and I know my boy @Mather would be all over the July R&HH ROTM if it was A Prince Among Thieves!I'm personally not anticipating the worst but alot of folk in here have been of late due to the opinion being poor choices. Like for example I see a majority forming that would like the pick to be Mos Def (me included) but folk are expecting it to be something more along the lines of Mase

Thankfully, the Me Against The World reissue sounds great! I’d like a Tupac ROTM, but not as much as I’d like a Dr Dre The Chronic/The Chronic 2001 ROTM for example!

I know it fared ok on original release but I think retrospective reviewing would score it higher. Very underrated from an at the time 21 year old kid

It’s definitely the best side on the album! I agree that those 3 tracks are something else! BABYLON is so good! So relevant too, that track! Just the energy and aesthetic of that track is special!

Have y'all listened to this D Smoke album from earlier this year? One of my favorites of the year and has some very good perspective on the current situation.

I honestly went into it not knowing at all what to expect, and I've already played it through in it's entirety twice. What an absolutely masterful album.
I am really happy for you, honestly. But this is such a piss off for me. I bought this in the great oversold debacle of ‘19 annnnnnnnnnnnd of course never got it. Out of curiosity how many copies did they have?

I 100% feel your pain and as much as I have loved getting lucky getting a couple records that are sold out online or going for gouged prices on Discogs, there is a bittersweet side of it knowing that there are plenty of their customers that have missed out on it when it was first available. I'm still shocked that they had it. Unfortunately I got the last copy, otherwise I would have offered to swing by there and snag one for you.
I keep going by hoping Saba or any of the 3 De La releases magically show up and I can snag one of those gems. I missed out on 3 Feet High and Rising in the exact same manner and it still leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

Oh... oh yeah. Yeah I'd be down for that. But honestly I'm hoping for Mos Def. But I put Handsome Boy in my top like... 5 albums they've released in the RHH sub. Maybe top 3. So yeah Prince Paul would be a nice addition.

If I had to pick one record, it would be Mos Def’s “Black On Both Sides” but I can’t imagine that happening because I feel like that would be too good to be true! That would be the biggest Rap & Hip-Hop ROTM to date if that was the pick!
I would like to replace the current pressing of Black On Both Sides I own as well!
Is the Respect The Classics press no good? I feel like the fact that that’s out there alone would disqualify it. I really hope not though, I would really fucking love that record.

Yeah, that’s the one! But I’ve got an EU pressing! It’s pretty disappointing actually in terms of sound quality. The vocals are low and it doesn’t sound sharp! Sounds compressed! Nothing special at all unfortunately!
I think the US reissue might sound good actually! I’d give that a shot, but I don’t want to spend another AUS$50 on that, unless I know it’s ‘great’ sound quality! I had The Chronic 2001 reissue from a while ago and it was ok. But I heard really good things about the recent 2019 reissue so I went ahead and purchased it and boy does it sound incredible! It’s so balanced, sharp and the bass and drums are tight! I have the 2019 reissue of the Instrumentals only version as well as the rap version and they’re both a delight to spin!
Like Madvillainy instrumentals and Piñata instrumentals used to be my favourite instrumental albums to spin on vinyl, but The Chronic 2001 easily surpassed both now, partly due to how amazing that 2019 reissue sounds!
