Vinyl Me Please Anthology

7 LPs possibly cut AAA with a deluxe glossy booklet for 150. No podcast or "bonus content" though!

Every time I see a box set like this priced well under $200, I question why I buy these VMP boxes. I know it's a scale thing, Craft isn't limiting their releases, but still.

I already decided that I'm only buying stuff I want and already know i love, Ghostly being the last random thing I'm willing to take a big chance on. Unless they step it up, I'm not going to blindly trust them anymore.
According to the YouTube promotional video, it is AAA remastered by Jeff Powell.
Pressed at MRP.... well, that's not always horrible.
I will admit, this is pretty tempting.

Just saw the Ghostly Anthology is still available for sale, in case anyone is regretting not getting one.

It's weird that it's still available on 11/11, when the page says it's only on sale through 11/8 or until it sells out. Since it's still for sale, it's weird that they bothered to specify a date at all. If it's on sale until it sells out, then it's just like any other product they're selling.

Yeah, that's a FOMO tactic, no? I bought it anyway :)

I'd imagine they will keep trying to sell these for as long as possible. I think individual albums in this set would be much less likely to sell quickly than the albums in the Motown set. They could put some of those AAA Motown records on the site for 45 or 50 a piece and they would likely sell out instantly.

Got a nice 15% off to the Ghostly store for being one of the first 100 people.... now I just have to figure out what I actually want to buy. Probably some Ghostly-branded socks.

Also just saw this: VMP Anthology: The Story of Ghostly International

Lists the set as being "sold out," which is funny.
Ghostly Vans!....errr, are sold out, bummer.

I got this, too - will have to peruse a bit to see their wares...

And selling at the early access price, too...

Listened to like 5 minutes of the new Ghostly podcast and it is already way better. Crazy what happens when you get a real podcaster to do it. No shade to Storf but he's just not a professional podcaster. He was doing a decent job just.... yeah.

For better or worse, Storf will be back on the podcast mic for Anthology #4.

And he "picked all the albums this time too."

And when I asked if my wife could get it for me for Christmas, his response was:
"I think it'll definitely be out, but might ship right after Xmas."

As much as I want to see Anthology succeed, I hope this is a lesson that this pricing isnt going to work regularly, especially when the records will be available elsewhere for significantly less.

But they'll probably just think Electronic doesnt sell as well and continue making Anthology a second classics sub.

I mean they made a lot less because they knew Electronic wouldn't sell as well. Half of both Motown and Blue Note. There's also the tease of a Hip Hop Anthology next year.

This first podcast is great.

Is Stax the front runner?

I've had something with a pre-label on it coming from Smithtown, NY at some point showing on USPS Informed Delivery. It's been there since November 12. Maybe that's it?
