Game of Thrones

I've seen several different theories about certain characters being Warg-Bran, and I just don't think the show has been deep where that would be the case. The Night King, Drogon, the white horse Arya rides last week, etc. It would be cool, but this season of the show has been everything but subtle and clever unfortunately.

I’ll be honest I’ve enjoyed all of these series but it’s never been particularly subltle or clever. It’s been a spectacle tv, not that there is anything wrong with that, it just isn’t in the same league as the great tv shows like The Wire and The Sopranos.

definitely agree, I think fans are trying find easter eggs or something where there's none. I think at one point it could have been in that upper echelon of TV but recent seasons have brought it down to earth.

I think fan theories have a lot to do with why people are so disappointed when something doesn't pan out the way fans think it will happen.

I loved Brienne writing Jaime's final history in the book of knights, especially after earlier seasons showed how much respect Jaime gave that book.

GoT never even came close to Dexter levels of crap. That last season is a trainwreck
I’d even say most seasons of Dexter are bad. They have like...3 solid seasons. And that’s it. GoT honestly never had a season that I felt was anywhere close to being truly bad TV. Even if things weren’t perfect, it never felt actively bad to me.

It’s interesting to see how differently people watch and interpret the show.
I’ll admit, I was a little underwhelmed with Jon not being the king. But after I had some time to digest it, it was a well earned final. House Stark had been redeemed. Ned would be proud of his kids, Jon included.

My only complaint was that there should have been 2 full season to finish. Not sure if it was a money issue, lack of script or both but I think it would have pacified those who needed it.
I’m eager to rewatch it and possibly read the books.

One of my friends always likes to speculate what is going to happen in pretty much every show he watches. We lived together in college and watched a lot of tv together. He’d always ask me what will happen to so-and-so trying to guess the next plot line or ending. To me, that’s not fun because if what you want to happen doesn’t happen, you’re disappointed. Everyone basically adopted certain fan theories as canon and is up in arms about the ending.

I like to, for lack of a better phrase, “turn off my brain” when I watch most TV because I’d rather let the story unfold in front of me. If your expectations are low or nonexistent then you’re bound to enjoy whatever it is more.

I loved the soprano ending. Breaking bad too. Think my favourite most perfect TV show ending was The Shield though. GOT finale was so bad for me it's a shame
I was also in the liked it camp for The Sopranos finale, same with BB. I have never seen The Shield, but it's on my list. I've heard that Walter Goggins' performance is just amazing.

And at risk of repeating myself from an old thread, Six Feet Under is the best series finale I've ever seen.

Now I have to get La Belle Sauvage. I've only read the original three books.

I would watch this show. Like for real. Why isn't this a show yet? And Ghost has to make a cameo appearance.

You do! I got completely wrapped up in it and read it in one Saturday where I barely moved off the sofa!

I've never watched Six Feet. I strongly recommend The Shield easily one of the greatest and most underrated shows ever made. Walton goggins is phenomenal

I enjoyed the last series a lot up until the last episode which I thought was poor. It was like one long cut away scene at the end of a cheesy blockbuster movie.

I was reading a review and it gave the possibility/thought exercise of the show ending with Drogon burning the throne, I actually would have been really happy with that ending, it was called the Game of Thrones and then there was no throne, end show

Six Feet Under doesn't get mentioned nearly enough in prestige television discussions. Yes, it's no The Wire or Sopranos but it's not that far off and still leagues beyond something like GOT. SFU is also completely rewatchable

As far as The Shield goes.. I recently binged it and I will say this .. it's good but it's dated. And maybe I'm biased because I knew of him first as The Commish but believing Michael Chiklis as this bad ass who all the hot chicks wanna bang was even more fantasy than anything in game of thrones.

I also love how, of course, kurt sutter is in the episodes he wrote as some super bad ass fucked up assassin.

I originally watched it on TV episode by episode. Haven't gone back to it so could well be dated but I know I loved it and was really satisfied with how it finished too at the time

A good friend of mine growing up really tried to get me into it when it was on the air and shortly after it went off too. The Commish connection always soured me on it but after reading all the hype on some television threads, i figured I'd give it a shot. it's good.. at times, really good.. but i dont think it belongs in the same discussion as breaking bad, the wire, sopranos, etc..
