What's Spinning

Joel Ross - Kingmaker (VMP 2019 'White' pressing).

So this is one of my favourite albums this year, and I was lucky enough to see Joel Ross live (he killed it!). Really looked forward to picking this up and decided to risk the VMP version. Firstly they delayed it massively which meant I didnt get it in time to have Joel Ross sign it at the gig, annoying but I can live with it. Now I finally get it and it has these really weird 'glitchy' noises throughout the C side. Definitely going to have to send an email to CS.

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!

Grateful Dead - Steal Your Face
Not sure why I waited 43 years to check out this band but glad I finally did. My wallet is going to hate me for a long while.

Same. 47 years for me. My wife saw all the live box sets I had in our Amazon cart yesterday and, well, let’s just say I might have been convinced to “Save For Later”.

Miles Davis - Nefertiti
First time listening to this. Second quintet sounds great, sure, but these songs aren't blowing my hair back.

Definite the most “free” of the second quintet albums. One of the songs, I am convinced, doesn’t even have chord changes.
But I find it rewarding with repeated listens. Hopefully you will too :)
