Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I remember when it happened it was Wilson Good a black mayor that did it . One of my 1st concerts I went to was in support of Move. It was RATM before they were big and there was only about 25 people there .
Mayor Good recently called for the city to apologize. Neither the city or the PPD have acknowledged it.

This is the man the PPD allow to represent them. He has previously called the Philly chapter of BLM a "rabid pack of animals" and a "racist hate group."

Even though I’m not in the U.S., I don’t think about the rebuilding the cities! That will all be taken care of and can be fixed. I’m thinking about the police brutality. Like, I want that to change! That’s what is heartbreaking!

I am happy there are demonstrations everywhere across the U.S., even if it means cities are getting a bit destroyed. The Police brutality in the U.S. is absolutely fucked up! I feel like this all is happening because things really need to change! There were more peaceful protests before, around 5 years ago, but it seems like the police brutality/police racism hasn’t changed. So there needs to be this anger by the public exhibited!
See the problem is this is already a pretty racist city to begin with. It may not recover from this. From what I see there's a 50/50 divide of BLM signs and outdoor blue lights to honor the police. White people are starting to get real Fight or Flighty around here. Two things could happen the whites could just bail to the suburbs if they don't feel safe and take all the money they pay in taxes and shopping with them That could financially cripple a city that already has awful public schools and transportation. The other thing is that they will stay and defend their property, My entire block is lower middle class and pretty mixed racially but the one thing we all have in common is we all have a lot of guns. If cars start getting flipped around here or homes vandalized the bullets will start flying, the dudes around here are trigger happy and looking for an excuse.

Silver lining is that Jim Neil lost his primary bid for reelection so he's on the way out.

All cops are complicit. It’s a profession that perpetuates racism, control and subjugation. All cops who stay silent are guilty.

Can’t agree with that ..who do you turn to when your robbed , under threat , in trouble , need to find loved ones..
But yes there are bad people who have become cops , just as there are good people who are cops.
Just as some good people are protesting , and some bad people are looting

If one cop breaks the law and there are 3 other cops present who witness it, and no one reports that the first cop broke the law, or does anything to correct the officer, then what we have is four very bad cops.

When a cop gets an internal investigation for breaking the law. And eventually the union and the oversight board decide not to take any action. Then that's an entire union full of bad cops.

People listen, you can disagree with my other posts but this one is very important.

Gavaxeman here is giving out dangerous advice. The only time that you should call a cop is if introducing a gun to the situation is a good idea.

If its not, then the cops can't do anything for you.

I Agree ..I didn’t say there was one bad cop did I?

The three “officers” who didn’t intervene are as bad , if not worse , as the one doing it .
BUT not every cop is bad ..that’s way too simplistic

And rioters and looters masquerading as protesters does nothing for a cause, however angry they are .. MLK had it right ..look at how powerful his voice has echoed down history ..that is what is needed now...makes the big chief look an even bigger douche bag ..rioting plays into his hand

I hope that you recognize that there are a lot of people in this country who are afraid to ever call the cops for help. Some people feel that they only have their community to rely on for those things you list.

I agree that it isn't simplistic and I've known police officers who I wouldn't say are bad people, but I recognize that my world is very different from others and that my priveleged perspective isn't valid for them.

I thought we agreed after WWII that people who fail to stand up and stop genocide were to be held responsible for it.

I’ll bow out of this thread now ..I am not American or black ......

Nor am I a Nazi !
With all due respect, if you’re not American I am absolutely puzzled by how you feel the need to defend or comment at all on the state of police and racial affairs in the United States. We have enough ignoramus spewing vitriol as it is in our borders about how property is more important than people and that MLK marched peacefully yada yada yada. MLK marched peacefully and his protests got absolutely brutalized. Yes he was a big factor in getting the civil rights act passed but we are still dealing with what he was fighting against today in 2020, so I’m not sure why people leverage MLKs tactics as the way to go. These people are fucking angry, they’re scared, the feel like they have no fighting chance to create the life they see glorified in every TV show, Instagram post and advertisement. We have no right to tell them how to protest when our country and it’s establishments have shown them time and time again that there IS no right way to protest. We need to educate ourselves on their plight and lend our privilege to them where possible, and we need to get our young people (myself and others) educated on how to make this corrupt shit show of a government work for us.
