Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

1996 has SO many choices but De La Soul Stakes is High is on there. Seeing that VMP have been open to repeating artists on ROTM and De La now having rights to their music and able to profit off of it, I'll stay optimistic but realistically pessimistic. Hell would be a perfect time for VMP to now repress all the De La albums and get them the $$ they rightfully deserve.
Just bought BM off a member here but would love another shot at DLSID and get Stakes if they do that

There are a lot of great records that came out in 89 and 96 (nothing from 2012 jumping out at me but that's just me) and part of me is excited and the other part is looking at a pile of Mars Volta records and hoping they somehow fuck this up!

If 89 is Maestro Fresh Wes Symphony in Effect I may take a few things I've said about this company back...who am I kidding it's going to be Kwame and those damn polka dots!!!

If it's Maestro, they damn well better offer up a discount to Canadian subscribers.

I was just thinking of an all Canadian month for VMP and was wondering about RHH and hating the idea of Drake but by god I think you got it.

Essentials: either Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Stars, New Pornographers, BNL or OLP (all pressings are shit apparently). The hip would be lovely but hard to market outside of Canada.

Classics: Gordon Lightfoot or Oscar Peterson

Country: Shania Twain or Colter Wall

RHH: Maestro or Kardinal?

And just like the contest, this month won't be available to non US residents

Wild guesses:

1989: How about Paul's Boutique?
1996: Westside Connection, or maybe 2-Pac?
2012: Death Grips

2012: Death Grips
Would definitely be down for The Money Store
I think there's been some speculation that for RSD 2022 they are going to repress the black/white split variant of The Money Store that was released way back for RSD 2012 when the album first came out (10th anniversary I suppose?) What this means for the likelihood of VMP getting their hands on a variant, I don't know, but it's something to consider.
