Hello N&G family,

We're back with another digital single this week. We're working together again with In The Pines. Earlier this year, we released their LP "Slow Blink" that was a hazy psych rock LP - but after working with them during the pandemic - they have built a hazy acoustic driven LP that would be great for fans of Kurt Vile, Dr. Dog, ect...

Hit our IG for some clips of the track - I am really excited about this new sound from In The Pines.

Our first single, "Birdsong" is coming on Friday. Pre-save and share if you are willing!

Soul Step Records Announces SSR-079

Soul Step Records is so thrilled to partner with Cardinal Club to announce our second ever 45 as part of the insanely popular release series - The Footprint Series. Soul Step Records’ Footprint Series focus on Country, Western, and Appalachian influenced music.

On SSR-079 - Soul Step welcomes not One but Two brand new artists to the Soul Step Records stable. This split-single features Nashville-based artist Timbo and the flip features Zelly.

Timbo, who graces the A-side with his dark and haunting stone Country track - “How Much Did It Cost?” This track showcases Timbo’s booming deep voice that sings some of the most poignant lyrics that takes a deep look at the state of our world. Country music at it’s songwriting heart is about storytelling, and Timbo absolutely delivers on the A-Side of this 45. We are also excited to have the voices of Lillie Mae and Sierra Ferrell amplify the track with their background vocals.

Zelly is a newcomer in the Singer/Songwriter and Folk scene. We are so blessed to have her debut single, “American Dream” on the B-side of this 45. This track is another beautiful introspective look at the state of our Country as well. This track features background vocals from New West Recording artist Nikki Lane. This is a great introduction to a new artist that you will make some major noise in 2021.

Soul Step Records will be releasing this split single from Timbo & Zelly to Soul Step Record Subscribers on Saturday, August 7th. The general public sale will begin on Monday, August 9th. There will be a limited to 100 CARDINAL CLUB RED vinyl variant in addition to the standard black vinyl.

Soul Step Records Announces the repress of SSR-006!

Soul Step Records are back again with another vinyl gem! We’re so excited that after initially getting this album on vinyl back in 2014 and after being sold out for quite some time, that Matt Duncan’s “Beacon” is back in print!

We went back to the drawing board on this particular release - with a full color jacket, new lacquer cuts by Well Made Music, and beautiful colorful vinyl. We loved being able to get this album out, but felt we wanted to push things further with our re-press.

Matt Duncan and Soul Step Records have released many LP’s, 45’s, and Digital Singles. This partnership has proved to be quite fruitful with every color vinyl being sold out and some releases selling out completely. “Beacon” has garnered over 10 Million streams.

Needless to say, the demand for this record continues to be high - even years after it’s initial digital and vinyl releases. We’re so happy to get this record back in print for those who have loved Matt’s music for a long time, and for those who are newly discovering his talent.

Soul Step Records will be releasing the LP repress of “Beacon” by Matt Duncan to Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, September 11th.
The general public sale will begin on Monday, September 13th. The tracks on this LP can be found on streaming on all services right now.

Modern Nomad has been releasing some beautiful and lush arranged pop music since 2015 and continues to grow his fanbase with each and every drop. Modern Nomad records and mixes sounds that are heavily influenced by Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys.

Soul Step Announces SSR-078!

Soul Step Records are back to announce the release of another vinyl LP from their ever-growing stable of independent artists. This particular release will see Soul Step staying close to their new home of Nashville to work with the indie-rock vibes of Katie Schecter and her LP, “Bad For Business.”

Katie Schecter upon first listen could be easily identified as indie rock, but as you listen deeper to “Bad For Business,” you will hear her specific “Old-Soul-New-Sound.” This LP was recorded at the famous Diamond Mine Studio in NYC. This album is produced by Ben Baptie (Moses Sumney, Rex Orange County) and her husband from Cage The Elephant, Nick Bockrath. They bring along the rhythm section from Amy Winehouse’s “Back To Black” Sessions in Homer Steinweiss (Mark Ronson, Sharon Jones) Nick Movshon (Lana Del Ray, Bruno Mars) along with Paul Spring (Holy Hive) for an incredibly soulful sound.

Take it from us, just get this record on your turntable as quickly as possible. Hit after hit as you listen through this album of indie rock & soul tunes. Katie songwriting shines on this LP to go alongside her powerful vocals that go from strong and bold to a prayer-like whisper in an instant. Needless to say, this LP will become an instant classic and hold a special spot in your Soul Step and overall vinyl collection.

Soul Step Records will be releasing the LP “Bad For Business” by Katie Schecter to Soul Step Subscribers on Saturday, October 9th.

The general public sale will begin on Monday, October 11th. The tracks on this LP can be found on streaming on all services right now.
