Fresh Grabs

A couple of Xmas presents for myself.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (Original EU pressing)

Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire - Illustrated Edition Deluxe Version

And this is how Tribe arrived 😲
Not really noticeable is that it had also been wet because one of the two pieces of cardboard the album was put between was still a little moist in one corner. Fortunately it was in an outer sleeve the album didn't get wet and no (additional) damage to the sleeve.

God I hate those mailers. They should be illegal.

Took an early bus into Manhattan to re-take a certification exam (barely passed!) and got back in time to celebrate a long work week at my favorite local. Picked up some bargain bin items, some half-price older stock, and a damaged box set with a matching crate. :)

One of the many joys of coming home to my parents is there's always a few records I've ordered to the UK for postage/customs etc reasons. This time there is such a bumper crop that I need to split them up into several posts.

First up is a lot of Richard Hawley. Like many, Coles Corner has been a white whale for me for a long time but to get all these together is just such a treat. Only regret is I have to wait to the new year to spin them...

Live at the Devil's Arse 2008 & 2017
Part two of this as I got too tired to post last night. Getting these back to Norway will be fun! They feel extravagant but this is kind of 4 months of UK purchases (who am I kidding?!)

Miles Davis - Early Minor
Sault - 7

No 42 of Miles, and what I'm sure will be one of my faves of 2019 if only I'd got it earlier.

Wildflower 1 & 2

Bought first press of 2 and realised I didn't have 1!

20191222_083748.jpg

Frazey Ford - Obadiah & Indian Ocean
Xmas presents to the missus as I introduced her to the Be Good Tanyas who are now her favourite group and I can't quite spring for Blue Train on vinyl so she'll have to make do with these ;-)

Songs for Our Native Daughters
Kathryn Williams - Dog Leap Stairs

One of my favourites of this year, and completing my early Kathryn Williams collection.

20191222_083855.jpg

Smog - Dongs of Sevotion & Red Apple Falls
Filling out my Bill Callahan collection slowly but surely.

African Brothers Band - Space Reggae Vol 2
Poly-Rythmo x 2
Broadway Dance Band 7"

Saving the best till last. An album by Africa's perhaps most consistent band (an overpriced copy of this has tempted me in Soho the last few times I've been to London), two great singles from my beloved Poly-Rythmo, and a bit of a flyer on an unknown single by Pat Thomas's first group.

Merry Christmas to myself! Ho ho ho...

If I am honest with myself finally getting Coles Corner on vinyl is probably my favorite record experience of the year. Those live albums sure look tasty as well.

This is an interesting soundtrack On Waxworks of a classic SyFy movie and it is starting to go out of stock. I found a copy from a rec store on Cogs.

Besides being a nicely done reissue the soundtrack itself has a lot if vintage synths. I’ve been eyeing this since it came out. Time may be getting short to find a copy at retail. Keep an eye on ur crystal if ur interested. Time may be short.

“Waxwork Records proudly presents the definitive LOGAN’S RUN Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. Available for the very first time on vinyl, the complete and expanded LOGAN’S RUN soundtrack by legendary composer Jerry Goldsmith receives the deluxe treatment from the soundtrack specialists at Waxwork Records, in close partnership with former Mondo CEO, Justin Ishmael.“
