I just came in to add my +1 to the Grado Gold being a stellar cart. Effortless sound and a huge improvement over the Grado Black.
10/10 would lock in a murder dungeon.

I'm looking for a cart upgrade path. I would very much like to move to Soundsmith. Now considering my setup (Pro Ject 2Xperience SB, Rega Aria Stage) I'm just wondering where I'd be looking in their line for an upgrade over the 2M Black. And don't just say "any of them are an upgrade"... I GET IT, NO ONE HERE LIKES THE BLACK... but I figured the Zepher or Aida are about the top of the line with how much I could ever spend. But I'm not sure if that might actually be too much cart for my system. Or more than I actually need...

Look seriously at the Hana M series. Easier setup and better sound than what you have now.

So is there any actual brick and mortar shops for audio gear anymore?
Most of the ones I buy from have physical stores. They tend to be very specialist, in houses/units that you have to seek out, the store is mainly geared to demo and conversation and advice with experts rather than the hard sell as sales are much more likely to be carried out online.

While I'm still not a huge fan of the 2M line, I do really like the Quintet line, that might be a path to venture down. And I'll chime in on the Hana as well, while I didn't go M Series, but I am enjoying the SL very much.

I haven't seen one in ages and the one that's about 90 minutes away stonewalled me when I asked a very simple basic question........so THEY'RE not helping themselves.
I gotta say that my local is being very vague and evasive recently on the phone. Which is a pain in the backside because they were the type that would bend over backwards to tell you too much back in the days when you could drop into the store. Fucking covid lol!

I feel like this is the store right by me. I have never been in or tried to go in, but based on their website and the brands they carry, they DEFINITELY throw off those extreme vibes.
