Not including digital only releases- gotta have a vinyl to make my favorites of the year

Stuff I’m over the moon for:
Cochemea- All My Relations
Jessica Pratt- Quiet Signs
William Tyler- Goes West
Marvin Gaye- You’re the Man
Damien Jurado- In the Shape of a Storm
A.A. Bondy- Enderness
Joshua Abrams Information Society- Mandatory Reality

Two Disappointing Records that I need to spend more time with

Altin Gun- Gece
Kevin Morby- Oh My God

I don’t keep up with new music as much as I used to, but one of my long-time favorites had a comeback album this year that I absolutely love:

Ladytron - Ladytron

By default, that’s my AOTY so far (though I should really check out that new Vampire Weekend because, you know, I’m a dad in my mid-30s).

For people who like Mountain Man (And for those who haven't listened to them... SHAME)—

Not only does Molly Sarle have two PHENOMENAL singles out, but Alexandra Sauser-Monning has two great singles out as well under the name Daughter of Swords. Both of their albums are coming out in a couple of months.

Some of my favorites so far this year:

Anderson .Paak - Ventura
Durand Jones and the Indications - American Love Call
Jade Bird - Jade Bird
The Dip - Delivers!
Gary Clark Jr. - This Land
Jamila Woods - LEGACY! LEGACY!
Orgone - Reasons

Excited For:
The Black Keys (6/28)
The Lumineers (9/13)
And hopefully something from Run The Jewels and Childish Gambino

This week I'm most excited about Rev Magnetic's debut album 'Versus Universe'; it's Luke Sutherland's (Long Fin Killie, Bows and sometimes Mogwai) new project and is wonderful. Sort of shoegaze, electronic, indie rock.

The latest Damien Jurado LP 'In the Shape of a Storm' is a beauty; just Damien's voice and guitar, unadorned.

I was pretty obsessed with 'Dogrel' by Fontaines DC a few weeks ago. Got tickets for Glasgow in Nov having just missed a recent show.

American Football's third self-titled LP is another winner (would it be a touchdown? I don't follow the misshapen ball games).

Alphabetical order:

Angel Bat Dawid: The Oracle
Beth Gibbons And The Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra: Henryk Gorecki: Symphony No. 3 (Symphony Of Sorrowful Songs)
Billy Woods & Kenny Segal: Hiding Places
Cherry Glazerr: Stuffed & Ready
Choosey & Exile: Black Beans
Czarface Meets Ghostface
Deem Spencer: Pretty Face
James Blake: Assume Form
Julia Jacklin: Crushing
Little Simz: GREY Area
Nilüfer Yanya: Miss Universe
Quelle Chris: Guns
Rico Nasty & Kenny Beats: Anger Management
Sean Price & Small Professor: 86 Witness
Show Me The Body: Dog Whistle
Solange: When I Get Home
The Comet Is Coming: Trust In The Lifeforce Of The Deep Mystery
Various: Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980–1990
