Album of The Year - Endgame

The year I was born sadly doesn't have many great albums in my opinion haha Follow the Leader is in my top 20 hip hop albums of all time though. Paid in Full gets the most love but I've always thought Follow the Leader was better.

1. Eric B & Rakim - Follow the Leader
2. Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back
3. Ultramagnetic MC’s - Critical Beatdown
4. N.W.A - Straight Outta Compton
5. DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince - He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper

1. Public Enemy - It Takes A Nation Of Millions...
2. Talk Talk - Spirit Of Eden
3. Sonic Youth - Daydream Nation
4. Death - Leprosy
5. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Tender Prey
6. Current 93 - Earth Covers Earth
7. Sade - Stronger Than Pride
8. EPMD - Strictly Business
9. My Bloody Valentine - Isn't Anything
10. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime

I've never really cared much for Pixies ( )

Any list that contains both Death and Sade is badass

1988 was the year i REALLY started getting into music; the music i was into was the beatles!

contemporaneous listening from the year as an 8 going on 9 year old was definitely tracy chapman and the traveling wilbury's, possibly do-re-mi and go-betweens, and definitely crowded house too, plus talking heads

it's funny when you do lists based upon listening to music that you have grown to know from a time when, really, you didn't know / weren't aware of it - i don't reckon i heard daydream nation until about 95 or so, as it wasn't until washing machine that i started to delve into sonic's pre-geffen catalogue, and that was probably because the bonus disc on it was the screaming fields of sonic love, which lead me to listen to their earlier stuff...i distinctly recall buying the ciccone youth album BEFORE getting daydream nation cos a) i loved the cover of madge's "get into the groove" and ii) it was cheaper than 'the one with the candle on the cover'
