New Music Friday!

💯% This. Like Top10 worthy even.
My guess is during writing they realized they have some slower ones and some uptempo ones and decided “what if we just released two separate albums”. I think it’s a cool idea because there doesn’t seem to be much fat on either album. But I do think I could create a “best of” from both.
Love this Men I Trust album (and the other Equus too). Hopefully we'll have get some kind of vinyl bundle soon.
I was thinking that today. They must be waiting to do a combo of some sort with both releases.

Damn. This very close to mine. Essentially the same, except you glaringly left off my favorite track overall from the Equus duo, "Unlike Anything".
I didn’t want to load it too much with first album songs since I am more familiar with it, since the second album hasn’t even been out for a day. But that’s another good one!

The fact that we got you excited enough to give the album a chance is enough for me. Now, I wouldn't say that I agree with the "pop" tag for Model/Actriz, but I would surely agree that there are some Trent Reznor/NIN influences in their music ✌️
It’s very poppy. I’m only a few tracks in but it very much uses melody structures and ideas that Justin Timberlake or Lady Gaga might use. I’m not sold on it but I’m interested enough to keep going. It would need to significantly change before the end for me to revisit it.

(My initial thought during the first song was why do these guys like industrial Right Said Fred?)

I really liked Ring Road and Doves. Ultimately, I don’t like the singer’s voice… especially the spoken word stuff which comes off like that Baz Luhrmann song from time to time.

There is a song that specifically reminds me of “I’m Too Sexy” so you aren’t wrong with that comparison. But the lead singer has spoken of his love of late 90s/early 2000s pop like Mariah Carey and Britney Spears and I do see that influence here. I think that is the secret sauce that helps me get into the rest of what the album is selling

Funny though that those are easily my two least favorite songs. I think Doves will grow on me but Ring Road is a skip
