Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Wooo The Diary or Stress would be great.

If VMP could work some magic and get Stress out, I could forgive a lot.

Main Ingredient is great, but I was able to get and original for a reasonable price, so I'd rather see Mecca & the Soul Brother.
Yeah, I want Organized Konfusion the most out of the bunch! Stress is a gem! A real hip-hop head kinda release.

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth’s The Main Ingredient is definitely my kind of style. Just buttery smooth, effortless, jazzy and just perfect to play and kick back to!

I really wish they could figure out how to reissue Stress. An underground classic, IMHO.

T.R.O.Y. is a classic.

T.R.O.Y. is a classic.
They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.) has the perfect jazzy horn loop! That loop over that drumbeat is just pure ecstasy! It’s funky, playful, quirky and welcoming. It does a magnificent job at painting the legacy and personality of T.R.O.Y. It’s like a bird singing a tune that will be remembered forever - like T.R.O.Y. will always be remembered because of how memorable the loop is! The storytelling is very touching but it’s that sax loop that is the highlight 🙏

T.R.O.Y. really is one of the best hip-hop songs of all time. No doubt! 💯

SMH, like bitch please. Don’t tell me you can’t name a great female rapper in the game right now because they all sound like they are rapping about the same thing........🤯

UMMMMM Jermaine Dupri,......you obviously haven’t heard Rapsody or Little Simz releases from this year! Even Noname is incredible! 💁‍♂️💡

I don’t expect the guy to know more lesser known artists like Sampa The Great, Tierra Whack and Leikeli47. But this guy doesn’t know much about what’s hot in hip-hop right now 🤦‍♂️
Exactly right. That's probably why his net worth is less than all these people now

Music is the best thing ever! I feel so spoilt with how much music I get to freely enjoy! 🙏

And I don’t want to sound conceited or pretentious, but I’m so happy I appreciate and love good music. It makes me feel special, smart and sexy. You know what I mean? 🤫😏

Like I can be full of life and dance like hot shit when Lizzo’s “Juice” or pretend I’m in a boxing ring and dance all aggressive and slutty when Poppy’s “Play Destroy” comes on but then next minute, Kanye West & Kid Cudi’s “Reborn” comes on and I’m feeling grateful, strong and believe that I can do anything I want to 😂🙈

Music is just everything!

Music is just everything!

Then you try to talk to someone in real life bout music and all they wanna talk about is Australia Got Talent/Australian Idol

Or some song a corporation told them to like.

I really want VMP to do Aaliyah’s third and final album - Aaliyah.

That album is incredibly diverse and has a cool, punk-like edge to it. It’s like Janet Jackson’s Janet. mixed with Kali Uchis’ Isolation mixed with Ciara’s The Evolution!

Wonder if that would ever happen since her uncle won't license it to streaming even. I probably should have bought that copy I saw for $100 as I feel it's only going to grow in value until that guy gets over himself lol. Honestly if they could reissue this I think they would have over the Mariah record.

Agree with those saying Kollage is a better album than the Da Brat debut overall, but the styles couldn't be more different. I hate how people lump all female rappers together by gender. Lame and lazy IMO...

Although I agree with you in principle, the fact of the matter is a woman has not made a top 25 rap record ever yet. Once they start cracking that, then we can take away the qualifier.

Right but that's your opinion. Granted you've probably listened to a shitton more HH albums than me, but I wouldn't say that's true full stop to my tastes. Depending on how you classify Miseducation, that would be in my top 5 easily. I'd also throw Supa Dupa Fly in my top 25 with no qualms. Then you've got the rap albums from groups with strong female contributions like Blowout Comb and The Score which would also be in my top 25.

I think the stigma against female rappers prevented a lot of careers from taking off to reach the full potential of their male counterparts in the 90s. Today the divide is certainly lessening, but then you're dealing with more contemporary production styles, which may not be to all genre fan's tastes.

Even if I did, which I don't really, I still don't think it's in the top 25 rap records ever.
This would be my top 33 hip-hop album all-time list.

Lauryn Hill is not included as I see it more as an R&B/Neo-Soul album. However, a good bunch of the album does contain rapping in it! If I was to include Lauryn Hill, it would be ranked #7 in this list. The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is an absolute masterpiece!

There are no women in this top 33 hip-hop albums of all-time list. However, you do have The Fugees in there, and Lauryn Hill makes up one-third of The Fugees. Same case with Digable Planets!!!

When she was in her prime, Lauryn Hill is definitely one of the better MC’s of the 90’s! Hands down! Her bars on The Score and The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill were incredible!

Agreed, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill is definitely worthy of a top #5 position. But it wasn’t so much the hip-hop that made it stand out. It was Lauryn Hill’s honest, vulnerable storytelling through her singing and the amazing production that really made the album a winner. Still, tracks like Lost Ones, Final Hour & Doo Woop (That Thing) are incredible hip-hop songs! 👌
