The Super Thread - All Things Marvel/DC/Etc

In the theater for The Flash... let's see how this goes.
I'm as surprised as you are, @avecigrec! But what's more shocking than that is...
I really didn't think it was that bad. The same way I didn't really think Black Adam was as bad as lot of people made it out to be. When it comes to superhero movies (or really any kind of blockbuster), I'm willing to forgive a lot of shortcomings as long as the overall experience is at least a fun one. While I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel like rolling my eyes at certain points, at other points I found myself really enjoying the spectacle of it all. That said, I can 100% see why it's not getting great reviews. I will admit that it's a pretty silly and clumsy film as a whole, but I've seen far worse.

Plus, I'm one of maybe five people on Earth that Batman & Robin fanservice actually appeals to.

I have a confession. I watched Fantastic 4 (2005) and didn't think it was terrible! I avoided it for a long time because I heard it was bad but honestly it kinda worked for me. It was pretty camp and had a lot of bad jokes but I think thats part of the charm. Not the best movie, but I wouldn't object to watching it again.

I don't care what internet grumps say, I'm really enjoying Secret Invasion and very excited to see how everything shakes out next week.

Olivia Colman is bloody fantastic!
I haven't watched today's episode, but enjoyed the first 4. And agreed, Olivia Colman is great! Also Don Cheadle plays an asshole really well!

Sure, why not?

Row 1: Into the Spider-Verse
Row 2: The Suicide Squad
Row 3: Spider-Man 2
Row 4:  Logan

i'm a month behind but for me it goes:

1 - Spider-Verse
2 - No Way Home
3- Spider-Man 2
4 - Logan

My picks are very Spider-Man centric because he's my favorite.
But all these are good movies except Justice League & Man of Steel (if i mentioned Watchmen - I'd seem to be a Snyder hater but I liked that one). Logan is my favorite movie in this list though. Spider-Man 2 is my 2nd.
I loved Iron Man and understand that it's important to the rest of these but come on... Spider-verse was immaculate!

The Batman
Avengers Infinity War
The Dark Knight
Logan

Honestly the hardest part of that is leaving Watchmen on the table...it has it's flaws but I love that film.

but what about spider man?
No Way Home is good, it's an interesting case....as a comic book film, it's brilliant, creative, and the truest a SM film has been to the comic characterization. As a film, it's not great, it's biggest flaw being it's horrible pacing. I can never make up my mind on it.

I have a lot of love for the Raimi movies...but it's out of nostalgia. Out of that context they don't hold up imo.

I haven’t seen a single DC movie I would say I enjoyed* but, uh, the Flash was pretty darn fun and enjoyable.

*First Shazam was cool.

Not a Batman fan? or a fan of Superman (1978)?

I gotta buckle down and finally watch The Flash. It's crazy that it took till 2023 to get a big-budget Flash film...even Aquaman beat him to the punch. I want to support it, even if that means supporting Ezra Miller.
