once again, i am proud that my hometown has the best (emo/punk) festival in the world

It's me, the curmudgeon who dislikes festivals but is attending this particular one for the second year in a row:

oh god, that crowd is going to be insufferable
I’m still mentally recovering from last year’s Lorde / Mitski crowd.

EDIT:
I was on the rail and had to deal with people who told me the following:
  • I was too tall to be there
  • I should move because they were "Lorde/Mitski's biggest fan"
  • I should accept $50 to move
  • I probably don't know any Lorde songs, anyway

We went to see Mitski / Run the Jewels / Lorde a few years ago in Philly, and made sure to get in on time to watch Mitski since I like her music. During RTJ's set, husband and I were the only people standing, singing along. We had really nice side stage seats, so at the end of their set, he went down to the bottom of the section just slightly behind / kitty corner to the rear stage where El-P and Killer Mike walked out and said a few words. He came back to our seats where I had stayed, and we were getting ready to go get a beverage and some young kids came up to us and asked if we were El-P's parents! We talked to them for a few mins, said we were not, we just like music and go to a lot of shows.

Then we tried again to go get a drink but another young couple came up to us and asked the same thing. In total, there were three times than people who had been sitting in the section near us asked that same question. I was a bit offended since El-P is only like 10 years younger than me but my husband has blond hair and looks a little like him, so I got over that pretty quickly.

We watched Lorde's first set, it was fine, but not my cup of tea, so we left before she came out for the encore.
