Needles & Grooves AoTM /// Vol. 2 - August 2019 /// Khemmis - Hunted

i guess i misremembered the crack the skye cover because i thought for a bit it had anubis on it
*gasp* did we just eliminate mastodon? I just assumed that band would dodge another bullet because their drummer’s second cousin made a Tesla coil for a D&D campaign or something!

It’s not mastodon

I gotta say, btw, I think it’s really neat that there’s a hard metal pick in this club. I feel like so many of the RoTM clubs out there along with the mainstream critical outlets have just a glut of Indie stuff and don’t spend much time introducing more niche stuff. There’s not really a good place that I know of that has the ability to introduce me to sub genre I’d never heard of while putting it into the larger context of the genre (that I’m about 20 years out of touch with). This has just been a really excellent experience, is what I’m sayin

Jump to the 1:07 mark through to 1:18 for the important part:

I saw this flick yesterday and laughed out loud several times.

This is one of the most exciting things about N&G. We're such a diverse group of people with vast tastes in music and we aren't tied down by picking what's "popular" or anything like that. Because of that, it's going to be much more fun to be part of the N&G vinyl club than any other, imo :giggle:

Don’t get me wrong, I buy a bunch of Indie stuff and I pick up a significant percentage of the selections by pitchfork and A.V. club! My comment was more that there are some genres (like hard metal) that are under-represented by various music clubs, so I was tickled that a hard metal album was in this! But I’m also excited about picking up a critical darling AND - what’s neat about this club - a record that the member-selector really wants to share with the community!
