Oh, how interesting that it's a 3 LP set. Because on CD, there's a 4th disc of additional tracks called "More For Les: at the Village Vanguard - Volume 4". I wonder of you can get that on vinyl too? hmmm..

But, to address your original point, that set of concert discs is AMAZEBALLZ! Elvin Jones is so good; it's great to hear him as a true accompanist, instead of his usual role as a leader.

I was wondering if I should get the new disc of this band. Normally I really despise the ECM "reverby"-sound, but the band here is really good. Do you have the album, and if so, is the soundboard-added-reverb out of control, or tolerable? I'm talking about this album:

Wow, theres a lot more stuff here compared with the UK one. I bought a Black Jazz release and the Tribe comp from the UK one and just waiting for it to arrive.

In terms of the US list, the Tubby Hayes is very good but it is an amateur recording. If you have a lot of his other stuff then its nice to hear but not one you should start off with.

The Don Cherry - Cherry Jam is a great release, Gearbox worked wonders on it.

Nerija was my pick for the N&G ROTM a while ago so im biased there, but would certainly say its worth it for the $15 price tag.

Im glad you and @MikeH flagged up this set, I didn't even know a 'Complete' set existed!

I have always loved these performances, I picked up 'Friday....' on a whim a while ago after finding it for a few quid at a local shop, and I couldn't get enough of it. I have been hoping to find the rest in the wild. Theres a handful of records that I purposely avoid buying online knowing that it will pop up in my brick and mortar hunts one day, and coincidentally I just found such a record this weeked which also features Pepper! Art Pepper is still woefully underrated in my opinion, especially in comparison to the bigger names out there.

I love Plenty Good Eaton from the Black Jazz stuff. A the rest listed here are ones I still need to get to listening to so I can't speak to any of these ones, but the Calvin Keys and Walter Bishop, Jr. releases are certainly worthwhile.

Acoustic Sounds stocks Sam titles. So does The In Groove and I think Plaidroom might as well. Probably cheaper/easier to order from one of those shops for more piece of mind. I’m sure they will have it. I got the WBC one though!

The Japanese box is very nice. I got mine for $55 shipped From Japan on eBay in pretty much NM condition for the vinyl. I’d highly recommend it if you can’t find them in the wild. I never see them around here so ended up going for it.

Yea it’s AP/MoFi pricing and from everything I’ve heard, Impex is in that caliber of pressing quality. The AS series is up to $39 now and I think Tone Poet MSRP is close too. Or you could get a 1LP pressed at GZ from VMP for the same price?

Agreed that it’s a bit steep but I’ve been looking at quality over quantity a lot more lately and am trying to curate my collection a little better. Unless I find something $10 or under used then I’ll take a punt on something I’m not as familiar with.

I think I am going to wait and see if Plaidroom gets any copies.

I've only seen Matador on Elusive Disc ($46 shipped) and Acoustic Sounds ($48 shipped).

They might. Seems they have gotten Impex titles in the past. Not sure how much cheaper it will be there but worth a shot! 5,000 pressed should last a bit

I've never bought directly from Sam Records but as Andy noted, I am a Wax Buyers Club member. A single-month international subscription is 35 Euros, which comes out to about 40-ish bucks (shipping included) in US dollars, so it's probably comparable to Acoustic Sounds' prices. The WBC version does come with an exclusive poster and the standard WBC obi strip if you like a few extra bells and whistles.

Ed also said he plans to have some other Sam Records titles in his store later this week, although from what I've seen those tend to sell out fast.

Likely the same price. But I can pair with another album to avoid shipping charges, and PR doesn't charge me sales tax either.

Edit: Scratch that, talked to Plaidroom and it sounds like they don't have a connection with a distributor for Impex releases (yet; they are working on it).
