I have and enjoy them both but IMO it’s Rust Bucket without a doubt. Young Shakespeare is inferior to a couple of prior acoustic live albums in Neil’s catalogue, whereas Rust Bucket is arguably as good as (if not better than) Weld if you’re in the mood for loud, electric Neil.
I agree. Though Young Shakespeare is still a fantastic set, I have plenty of great acoustic NY from around that period. Releases like Rust Bucket is much more unique and is just a raw grungy live set.

Its the Man Needs A Maid>Heart Of Gold on Piano + Ohio + the sound quality of the recording that really raises the bar on YS for me.

But the 12 min Like a Hurricane and 11 Min Cortez the Killer on Rust Bucket are just fire.

Rust Bucket is great but Weld is a whole other animal. The rage and vitriol Neil played with on that tour was incredible. One of the best shows I've ever seen.

Anyone have any recommendations on deals on udiscover right now? They sent me my vip (30% off) code like 3 days ago and it expires on wednesday. Was thinking about picking up katanga and the new sonny clark tone poet preorder.

They usually have The Band box set at a decent price. Stack your 30% and that should be a great value.

If you like The Band, of course...

I picked that up for the summer sale to upgrade a couple OG copies. Plus I think what I was missing is only available in the set now.

I'm regretting not getting the Enigma set too cause it sold out on me, but grabbed the first two albums.

I'm hoping someone on here buys The Complete Live at the Lighthouse set on there and reports on it.

So you're the one! The set was in my cart for about a week at the end of May, but then it sold out. I now obsessively check udiscover to see if it's been restocked so that I can use my 30% off coupon and pick up those great albums for about $75 plus tax.

I sat on the set only because I have older copies of just about all those albums--I'm missing Moondog Matinee and Islands but never really sought them out. I've since read that the copies in that box (which were pressed at QRP) sound great and give even the old Ludwig-cut copies a run for their money. And they're likely much cleaner and quieter than my vintage copies. But you all know how the story ends.

I suppose the relevant point here for others is that you won't find the Band boxset on udiscover anymore. And if it does come back, you should snap it up immediately or find yourself telling a bunch of strangers about how you were so close to getting very nice copies of some truly great rock albums for a price that was beyond reasonable . . . but then you missed out.

I didn't know it sold out. Definitely a great deal for the set. I love live albums so I've been spinning Rock of Ages the most out of it, but I should do a comparison spin soon. No complaint on them so far though. If I happen to see it get restocked I'll let you know!

Someone just posted this deal on Reddit:

Sturgill Simpson Cuttin' Grass - Vol. 2 (cowboy Arms Sessions) on DeepDiscount

And there's a 15% off coupon too. MEGALODON

Update: looks like they've updated their BB (Blowout Bin): also have titles by Frank Black, Parker Millsap, and Matthew Sweet, among some others.

Update #2: Paul Simon's UK 180G Graceland is there too for $8 as well as Peter Tosh, Bush Doctor, limited 180G Red

I picked up Passing Ships by Andrew Hill because (a) it's great and (b) it's not available through Target so probably can't get a better price than $29 shipped.
