Pre-Order Thread

I have a lot of real floppy light-weight records from the 70s/80s and a lot of them sound incredible and have lasted this long! As @djdavedk said, the grooves wear, not the thickness of the record.
Heavyweight records tend to last longer only because they are more durable and resist breakage better. (Note I said breakage not wrapping) 😒

Might buy the 8-track of Daddy's Home just for shits and giggles. As for the vinyl... So many decisions. Do I want the photo book from the deluxe black vinyl version? One of the many colors? In terms of alt. cover art, I'm digging the indie exclusive.

Never have I been this anxious about selecting a variant. Hahah.

Explain this logic.

The grooves would wear out either way, it's not the thickness that creates the sound.
Heavier vinyl provides a more stable platform for both stylus and cantilever suspension providing extra protection from unwanted vibration that can cause sound degradation at the micro-level over time.

Not saying it's any reason to promote 180g, but surely there are some benefits to be had if you're a power user.

Incorrect. That is straight up awesome. 8 Track is probably the next defunct format that will make a comeback. A little surprised she didn't do a reel to reel version.
I remember buying the reel-to-reel version of The Shins' Port of Morrow because I was just so excited for a new Shins album at the time after doing nothing since their 2007 album that I bought the most expensive bundle with it. It was pointless for me. just sat on a shelf for 5 years. The one sale on discogs is me. Think it was $100 retail, sold for $75. It was not a flipping situation. I just realized that I don't need it and it was pointless to buy. Lots of people will end up buying this 8track just because.

I'm actually shocked in all my obsessive tendencies to own ways to listen to music, that I have yet to buy a reel to reel player. I would love to try it out but I'd imagine the stuff I'd really want to listen to would be way too expensive to try to collect on reel to reel.

people are wild hah. yea--this is not something you can listen to. It's just life-size photos of the EMI tape.
AND it's just for side one. Of course if you buy side one, you're obligated to buy side two once it is released. Nice $550 cash grab. IDK...I mean I know Pink Floyd fans are rabid, but I just don't see the market for this.
