February 2021 Challenge (& Raffle)

Day 22: I can’t wait
Play an album by the act you’re most looking forward to seeing when this damn pandemic is over.
Kiwi Jr. - Cooler Returns

I didn’t person Discover Kiwi Jr. until the very beginning of 2020 but Football Money was a favorite of mine last year and now with Cooler Returns they are 2 for 2 on great albums and are just the type of band I would adore seeing live. They have two albums full of great tunes and are still small enough that I could enjoy them from an amazing small venue like Neumos in Seattle or Alma Mater here in Tacoma. Hopefully they will tour this coming Fall and I will get my chance.

Note: I chose this video because we drank at The Horseshoe while vacationing in Toronto. A fun venue.

The Horseshoe is the best! I actually think I saw them open for Nap Eyes here. Might be the same show.

Day 22 - I can't wait
Armand Hammer - Paraffin

We don't get many shows at all here by artists I'm excited about. Not really anything scheduled this year at the moment either. Pretty much anything I would choose feels optimistic to me in a normal year. I would really love to see these guys and was thinking about it after the excitement of the new album announcement this morning. Maybe they'll at least come to Charlotte or something some day.

I have that album on the way... I just discovered them myself.

Day 24: Physical Graffiti
Led Zeppelin released one of my most prized albums 55 years ago today. Play something by them.

Last month I played a Zep LP for a Classic Rock themed day and today I’ll play another one of their reissues that was still sitting sealed on my shelf. This time I went with their debut and again I am reminded why Classic Rock (and particularly Zep) kicks ass.

Wed 24 – Physical Graffiti
Led Zeppelin released one of my most prized albums 55 years ago today. Play something by them (or some other classic rock).

I thought I had more than two zeppelin records, but I’m glad this is one of them. In high school, I was driving to a friend’s house late at night when the classic rock station played “In My Time Of Dying.” It was the first time I’d ever heard it and I turned the stereo up as loud as it could go and I could feel the guitars and drums sucking the air out of my lungs.

Day 22: I can’t wait

It's not that I want to really see them live, as I don't really like live music, it's more to do with the rumors of a reunion tour..and how I hope a new album comes from that.

Day 23: Quartet

Gotta go with my teen fav here. I found this single copy a few months before finding the full box set - the 2x33 doesn't really bother me with these albums, as they sound really good to me.

Not usually in anyone's favorite LZ albums, this reissue is worth getting for the 2 LP's of "Companion Audio". For some reason they waited until this release to include the B-Side "Hey, Hey, What Can I Do". Being the B-side to ""Immigrant Song", most people were expecting it on the reissue of III.
