Country / Alt-Country / Roots / Americana

I was completely unfamiliar with Darlingside but love this album which is somewhere in between Fleet Foxes and Bon Iver. The new Stapleton absolutely does not disappoint. I had a big country weekend and Willie was an easy choice. Sturgill says hi. Gilfillian is a major talent. @Fleetwood-Matt ’s resurrection of the Bjork thread gets a nod. More covers of Gaye I don’t hate. The new GFO is freaking brilliant. Madison Cunningham is 100% my pick for artist that is criminally slept on.

Dammit. Wrong thread. Semi relevant though.

Until I heard this, I didn't realize how bummed I still was over JTE's untimely passion.

Steve Earle & The Dukes doing Harlem River Blues.

Stereogum has the full tracklist if anyone is interested. I was hoping for Mama's Eyes.

TRACKLIST:
01 “I Don’t Care”
02 “Ain’t Glad I’m Leaving”
03 “Maria”
04 “Far Away In Another Town”
05 “They Killed John Henry”
06 “Turn Out My Lights”
07 “Lone Pine Hill”
08 “Champagne Corolla”
09 “The Saint Of Lost Causes”
10 “Harlem River Blues”
11 “Last Words”

Pre ordered already! JTE is one of my favorites.

Thanks for this link, interesting list and a few artists I hadn't heard of previously.
Popmatters.com has a pretty great set of yearend lists for diverse genres from world music to indie pop. There are always records to discover

Confession time, with a few exceptions (Confederate Railroad, Dixie Chicks) - 90s country was not my jam.

Of course, I knew Thunder Rolls and Friends in Low Places, but that was pretty much the extent of my Garth Brooks knowledge and most of that was from living in the south and working a bar with a karaoke night for a few years.

That being said, No Fences has been a joy to get to know. Worth the $18 box set on its own.

Not including Lori McKenna 'The Balladeer' on a list of the Top 25 Americana Albums of the Year and also leaving her out of the honorable mentions is insanity.

Garth's first few LPs are solid.

When this album came out in May, it got a lot of good reviews but seemed to suffer from a lack of promotional push with one single. It is a strong album, well produced by Dave Cobb, but just didn't get wider traction it deserved.

Man, I absolutely dig that Frank Jacket album...

If there is one person you should know on this list it is William Prince. A girl I follow on Instagram recommended him to me. He is nothing short of amazing. Easily my favorite artist discovery this year, maybe my favorite in the last 5. All three of his albums are fire. No skippers on any album in my opinion.
