Vinyl Me Please Rap & Hip Hop

Haha, WELL....?

I can't even begin to remember all of the details but basically he had booked out like two weeks to do a silent yoga retreat but left on the second day cause it wasn't what he thought. And he had done some event with Galifinaikis who had at some point told him if he was ever in the area he could stay at his farm.

So he calls and Zack is like yes, you are more welcome come on down. And he drives from MO to NC and is excited to not have anything to do and be in nature. And he sits down with a beer at the picnic table and Zack says, "oh yah, Kanye's people are shooting a music video here this weekend." "What? When?" "They were supposed to be here 3 hours ago."

He said there's a shot of him sitting at the picnic table with a beer and thats his second beer but he hadn't actually got up from there since he arrived at the farm.

Personal favorite Kanye song is Can't Tell Me Nothing. Objectively, I think POWER is his greatest achivement, the amount of thought that went into that song is incredible. The episode of Dissect that broke that song down blew my mind.
Mmmmm Power definitely is one of Kanye West’s best songs of all-time! 💯

Kanye West has so many 10/10 songs, that it’s so hard to choose my favourites by him! 🤪

I also love the song Can’t Tell Me Nothing! Absolute classic! But my favourite from Graduation will always be Flashing Lights, as that song is pure perfection for me. The violin at the start with those galactic twinkling noises are incredible, and then when the beat drops with those handclaps and that robotic voice and then those shuffling synths - it’s glorious! And then when Kanye starts rapping, the strings are really highlighted and the song sounds very dreamy and reflective! And Dwele’s vocals in the chorus are sexy and assured! Flashing Lights is one of the most attractive, strutting, model-runway hip-hop songs ever and I love it! 😍😍😍

Would runaway still be No.1 without the Pusha feature??
That seems like an odd thought experiment b/c that isn't the song that exists.

I suppose you could argue that it doesn't "purely" highlight Ye's talent; although a counter argument would be that one of Ye's talents as a producer is putting the right artist/feature with the right song.

Just interested in what people think. Pusha T is a top 10 rapper for me personally and I think he elevates the song, brings it to another level but maybe that's just me

Hey guys. Was wondering if anyone might help me. I'm fairly new to Rap and Hip Hop and have very little knowledge of classic albums, crate diggers etc. Through VMP, I discovered Noname and Saba and slowly started to get into it. Then last year's Grey Area by Little Simz turned out to be my AOTY. Now with Freddie Gibbs Alfredo, I found another album I'm obsessed by. I absolutely want to dig deeper into the genre and was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendation based on these albums. Sonically I'm basically looking for grim stuff with organic production and real instrumentation, if that makes sense?
