What's Spinning

If me and @Clint Howard are able to get these underground rap releases going. This is the kind of stuff I'll be voting for. I want stuff that 99.9% of the population never even knew existed, and the only way they could even hear it is if they owned the physical product.

For example, this tape took me 3 years to find. It's a 3 song EP, with the b-side offering the instrumentals. And this represents his entire body of work afaik. One of the tracks on here 'Small World' was featured on the album The Hideout - Wartime. He was an ancillary member of 'The Hideout Click', whom also only put out one album.

Very good EP, and something that most people would never ever be exposed to. My favorite track would have to be 'The Hideout Click' which is the closer, and also the one which features Ms. Tee who earned her fame in Cash Money's early days as their first female M.C.

Fun Fact: Like many albums from the 90's they always felt the need to promote their next product on the cover, and again like so many of those projects, the album 'Deathrow' never came to be.

Nothing but rare Louisiana rap tapes that I want on vinyl today.

This one comes from Monroe, LA and is the only release these guys ever put out. Really good shit. Great sampling, and the wordplay is sick. This also has the distinction of being the only release from N2Deep Records.

I remember purchasing the CD the day it came out, and listening to almost nothing but this for... hmmm... I wanna say months. God help me I love this band.
Picking up the reissues has really been great for re-connecting to those mid-period albums. I also welded this into my car's CD changer for probably half a year when it came out, but now mostly just listen to boots all the time.

🤤 This sounds really good. Too bad VMP doesn't have a nice communal web presence to receive some positive feedback.

While I absolutely love their studio albums, they are a colossal force of nature as a live band for suuuuuure! Have you seen them live and if so how many times?

Flipping through the stacks at Goodwill is almost always a waste of time, but today I dug up a few gems that were in fantastic condition... like this one...

It is more so now. 5-10 years ago it was great - MoFi's in thrift stores great. I stopped going to thrifts around here regularly about 3 years ago. It's been about 2 since I've stepped into one.
