Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

Why? What are your thoughts on VMP’s integrity? I’d love to know since I know you’ve been around a while and seen them demonstrate several different acts of assorted nefarious behavior.
I'm speechless because I kind of agree and think VMP do have little integrity, even though I do love them very much!

I think VMP are a caring, friendly and fun company that release quality products, but are a dishonest company too in terms of communication and other things they sometimes sweep under the rug. They are honest and transparent in terms of the details of their exclusives (pressing location, mastering details etc), but have been dishonest in other areas such as customer waiting times and the issues that occurred in the Blue Note Anthology Boxset.

I think overall, VMP's integrity is below average. I don't see them as an honest company and it's frustrating because if VMP were more honest with their mistakes/other issues, us as customers would be more understanding and it would make life for them much easier!

PS - I also think a lot of other big companies have very little integrity as well, from Pfizer to Apple to McDonalds!

It seems this Vinceron thing has gone out of hands. It's very bad promotion for VMP. The fact they want to ban and want to shut down people from talking about this on Reddit is very questionable and the complete wrong way to handle it in my opinion. VMP should put out a statement about this to reduce harm for them.

Am I surprised about this? Not at all. The fact they shut down the old forum because people have been talking about VMP's mistakes did show their true colors. It's unforgotten. Yes, I still buy records from them as their products are great and many records are a good deal for me as an International, but I certainly don't think they have much integrity.

Yes, the VMP forum being shut down was something that was heart-breaking, and further shows the little integrity VMP have overall, even though I think their products are great!

Yes, especially as the same way as the N&G Forum now it wasn't only about VMP, but music in general and also including topics like mental health threads etc, so they did show a true lack of caring and understanding for their members back then. If this community wouldn't have been that strong and great to set up a new forum within few days, this community would have been lost forever. It shows how most of their interests are just driven by money. Of course, this is true for most big companies, but that doesn't make them better, just because others are bad too.

I just hope VMP addresses this Vinceron situation like they addressed the situation after the murder of George Floyd. They should announce a statement on this.

the reddit is not owned by VMP (in fact only 1 person from the company is a mod)... the temp ban for a couple of people was just because it was getting too intense and they dont want to feed an obvious troll that probably should just be reported as a scam artist. in fact its clear that in the 6ix9ine or lil darkie style fashion they are getting more and more popular because of the attention and allegations of collaboration (which i always thought felt too much like a conspiracy theory) and is practically profiting on hatred...

also as i have stated before VMP isn't the only place he has scalped, he has scalped for a bunch of people selling cassettes. clearly is not in cahoots with urban outfitters even though he is selling the fame monster exclusive on there, and have multiple plushies i am sure as taken from fangamer, and indie game boxed releases stolen directly from limited run games

Id be surprised if VMP had even heard of this Vinceron. I don’t useReddit and have only read a few posts about him here. I get from recent posts this Vinceron is flipping records.
He just has a load of accounts and uses all the add ons. to scalp more records. Can’t be that hard the grab 30 BVSC etc etc using multiple accounts. Just takes an hour or so to manage all the accounts.
Unless VMP get asystem which limits how many records go to one address, this will never stop. Which they will never do !

I was reading about him, there is an article about him buying up tons of political merch during the 2016 election and flipping it on Amazon. The guy is an ex professional poker player. I'm thinking the guy has multiple accounts and scripts to swipe all the good stuff when it comes up in swaps.

I'm so excited for the Wednesday store drops!!! Hoping we get a really nice surprise! Maybe some D'Angelo or JPEGMAFIA or Natalia Lafourcade or Gorillaz or OutKast...or maybe we'll finally get De La Soul's Stakes Is High!!! 🤞🙏🤞🙏

Lol, what am I even saying?!? 🤪🤷‍♂️

Looking forward to waking up seeing what exclusives drop in store still! It might not be anything I want, but with how boring everything is at the moment with COVID-19, I am absolutely excited to see what will drop in store soon! 🙇‍♂️🍬🎁🛒🏮😄

Mod at /r/VinylMePlease has now started a survey to decide if we can still talk about Vinceron, claiming that it's just giving him free advertising.

He started the survey at 1am, and will close it at 6am.

Like, wut?! Defying all logic and otherwise obvious cries from the community, the poll results are showing "Don't talk about him" by a large margin.

This is so fucky.
It's the same mod that handed out the bans, and it seems somewhat disingenuous to conduct a poll in the dead of night to determine if we can keep talking about the guy everyone is currently talking about.

Also, he's concerned because Vinceron just tweeted out that Reddit is giving him lots of business right now. 1) He's a habitual liar. 2) His bragging makes me think the opposite is true.

I think he's shook. Hence the defensive tweets, and the mod is either buying it hook line & sinker, or he's trying to quell the debate.
That sub is not well moderated most of the time, honestly. I've had discussions with some of the mods. Most are okay. One of them is causing this issue right now. They should get together and have a real discussion about how their actions have caused this issue to spiral out of control.

I wonder if they are going to do an exclusive of Lianne La Havas' new album? Its a fantastic release if you haven't already heard it, I certainly think you would like it @NathanRicaud

I don’t think you mean it this way, but can we please all agree that the racist murder of a man is not in the same league as someone flipping vinyl. ☹
Of course they are not in the same league! You definitely can't compare the two from all aspects really. Like one of them is directly related to VMP, the other isn't. And one of them is a severe, unforgiving kind of crime, whereas the other isn't even really a crime; even though it's still frustrating.

I doubt it because the album is already out, already has a few colour variants, and VMP have never touched any of Lianne La Havas' albums before. I can't see it happening at all! ⛔

I've heard the album like 4-5 times and am in love! I purchased a copy from Amazon that hasn't shipped yet! Looking forward to when I receive it! Definitely in my top 5 albums of 2020 so far! ♥

Sorry if my expression came across as wanting to compare these things. That wasn't my goal. Of course they're not comparable by any means.

I just meant that it would be in the own interest of VMP to comment on that Vinceron situation as it seems that many VMP members at least on reddit are very unhappy about someone apparently getting access to lots of limited records (either through dark channels or by having dozens of accounts) while other members who want to buy them for a regular price aren't able to get them. I think this is causing some harm for VMP.

Yikes. I'm just catching up on the recent drama.

Pretty fucked up move by the mods to do that. Thank God this place exists - the VMP sub is NOT a suitable replacement for the old forums. Which one of them thought censorship was the way to go? Same way they censored my damn pizza satire post and inspired Very Meaty Pizza. What are they thinking? Are they trying to protect their relationship with Storf/Pauly?

And fuck VMP for allowing this. Either they're artificially reducing stock and allowing markup resellers to play their shitty game, or Vinceron has tons of duplicate accounts and they are doing nothing to combat it.
So I’m the one who originally posted on reddit about MM Food being flipped by Vinceron. I didn’t think it would get as many eyeballs on it as it has. I figured most people had already heard of Vinceron but I’ve been on that subreddit for a long time and only recently realized how big it has gotten. There was originally a comment from the mods saying “we will leave this up but only since you asked Pauly a question in the comments”. I had asked Pauly to comment on how one user gets so many ROTMs.

Then, I got a notification from one of the mods that said something along the lines of “we have deleted your post. Please do not post this again.” So I messaged the mod and asked why it was deleted, said it didn’t break any rules and if anything Vinceron should be banned after how they reacted to people and insulted them. In the thread, Vinceron bragged about having hundreds of accounts, denied that the eBay account is theirs (it absolutely is the same company...what are the odds of two companies located in the same small town selling huge amounts of all of the same flipper stock??) and insulted people left and right. The mods told me I had done nothing wrong but the thread was getting out of hand and they felt they needed to either take the thread down or ban Vinceron and they did both. The reasoning made sense to me at the time and I didn’t wanna start anything else from it. I didn’t know users were getting hit with temp bans for talking about Vinceron.

I do sort of understand the aspect of it being free advertising for Vinceron, but most people on the thread were staunchly against him. The guy also seems like a habitual liar so anything he tweets about to his handful of followers is not to be trusted. The whole situation is weird. Maybe VMP will be forced to address it but I truly doubt it.

This is where I take issue with how that sub is moderated (as a mod of r/vinylcollectors, which is a larger sub with nearly 5x the subscribers) - the obvious answer was to ban Vinceron and allow discussion about it to be contained to one thread. Instead, by not being able to choose the obvious option and by deleting the self-contained post and banning users, they opened a can of worms for a post titled "The VMP Oligarchy" lol

It's just bad moderation.

I don't buy the "free advertising" bit at all, and Vinceron's Twitter account (the personal account) has ~2K followers which are likely purchased as he gets almost no engagement on any Tweets. He's yelling into the void and likely lying his ass of - he is a former poker player, after all. I guess the mod at r/VMP took the bluff.

And then this "poll" was just a toxic FU from the one Mod in question. It was completely childish and pathetic:

A 1am-6am poll conducted to provide the answer they wanted, with a pretty clear intent in the post and a sarcastic "You asked. You have it", and then locking the post for comments.

That sub is just a disaster right now, and the Mods need to get their shit together.

I agree with most of this. As for the guy bluffing, it's highly likely. I have seen people posting links to his site/account and selling stuff though on various reddit subs but with his prices being high on a bunch of stuff, I don't see him selling enough to warrant taking the post down. Overall, I didn't want to make a big stink about it on the subreddit because I didn't think it was worth it. I called attention to Vinceron and now the issue has attention haha.

They did extend the poll (which I agree is stupid and wasn't very fair) btw after people questioned it, but it's heavily tilted towards banning any Vinceron talk sadly.

Also shoutout to r/vinylcollectors. Appreciate you modding that community. It's awesome.
